Seriously though I'm over Snow botching it by not moving him because like you said everybody knew he was looking for final big payday. The only reason I bring him up is because of all the clowns said he would do nothing without JT
- Vukota

With 19 games left, the Isles went into a road trip believing if they could take 6-8 possible points, they could make a run for the 8th spot. Obviously none of us felt it was going to happen but the point is, that was crunch time for the team. In addition, PA was playing for his big pay day and that was the total he came up with.
Like I say, I think he's very talented but he is not a 70-80 point guy like some here insisted. He's off to a nice start (I think 2 goals are empty netters?), but I still think we could do better for $16 million.

Like Okposo? and for the record I don't think anybody said PAP would be a 80 point guy

Its not about imagine if we still had PA. Its about sticking it to all the know it all's who said he was garbage without JT.

7 games into the season is a little early to say he's going to keep putting up big numbers without JT. I still haven't changed my opinion of him. Look at players off to great starts you wouldn't assume to be able to maintain that pace.

Pomminville 12 points
Shattenkirk 8 points
Markov 4 goals in 6 games
Winnik 5 goals 7 points in 5 games

PA 5 goals and 2 assists in 7 games? PA is sure as hell not going to be a 50-60 goal scorer. His strength was in setting up JT and Moulson. Jason Blake 2.0

PA will finish the shortened season with less than 15 goals and 35 points, and will probably be substantially lower than that.

I'm only going by the facts not by what some of you think might happen down the road. Don't know what else to tell you. You could be right with your predictions who knows.

Oh yes they did. I had at least three people here telling me that during the summer. One insisted he would 'easily' surpass a ppg.

let's revisit this midway through the season and see where he's at then. I did watch a bit of the Avs last night and thought he looked okay, but didn't feel any regrets about not having him on the team this year.

Well I can only speak for myself and I said he would be a 60-70 point guy in a good year. I promise last post about PA

that's funny as hell, I wonder if there was a way to dig up post history and find out who thought PA could score a PPG without JT and MM

I do wish we could have kept him but I think his leaving falls just as much on PA as it does Snow.
Snow picked up PA at a time where the rest of the NHL had given up on him. He was on his way to being a career AHLer and the Isles brought him in and gave him the ultmate chance of playing on a teams top line with their future star.
During the season the Isles apparently offered PA a three year deal which he declined to test the waters. So rather than stay with the team that saved his career for 1 less year, he chose to bolt as fast as he could. So at that point, it's no different to me than another player who doesn't want to report to us. Good luck...good-bye.
Remember, the Isles had just recently signed Moulson to a 3 year 3.1 millioni dollar per season deal, so the idea of signing PA for MORE years and MORE money than Moulson would have been a poor statement to guys like Matt. Did PA deserve more money than Moulson? NO.
I'd rather spend a 1 year deal on a guy like Boyes and be ready to have one of your prospects or better free agents fill that spot next year.

Doesn't Kessel make 8 million a year?
- Vukota

What he's not worth that? Haha!

That being said, the dude is talented as all hell and I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him in at the right price.

I tried the last time this conversation came up but couldn't find it . I gave up after already having spent more time than I'd like to admit.

I need to start bookmarking stuff for the future!

*edit* Actually I think I remember now who said the ppg comment...do I throw him under the bus?

I keep thinking back to last year, when the Isles poop the bed in the opener and got shutout, then took off and were sitting in the top half of the conference about 10 games in and even DP had a record over .500, then the wheels came off in a huge way. I'm trying not to be overly excited this year because it feels like a carbon copy. With any luck we'll avoid the 10 game slide this year.

Very smart. Way too early to get excited. Some good signs as well as troubling ones.

I will say for a 3 and 4 team with only 16 goals the fact that he's a +7 is impressive. However he's scored almost 1/3 of the Avs goals and that should be scary as hell for fans of that team.

I don't know if it's smart, or just continually being disappointed with this team every year. If they hit the halfway point above .500 I'll let Lucy hold the football for me again without assuming she's gonna yank it away.

it feels a little different in that we're finding ways to win, but the blown leads and quick goals against after we score are scaring the crap out of me.
