AMAC caught Ted Nolans eye cause he leads by example. The kid is a workhorse, who plays big minutes, and blocks shots. How can you not like that? How do you not like a kid who is making basically the league minimum and yet he's asked to play like a 4 million dollar guy? - kindlyrick
no on doesnt not like him (thats right, a triple negative)...read carefully. |

Thats true, he def is not a flashy dman... But not every dman is going to throw massive hits and score 15 goals and make end-to-end rushes... I think him playing sound fundamental and positional defense while blocking shots and making good outlet passes is all you can ask... That he does and does pretty damn good IMO... The Isles have him playing on the 1st d-pair which is out of position... I think he is probably a good 4th dman, maybe an ok 3rd. Just dont think he has done anything wrong to be taken out of the lineup. - Bags502
I think the answer with AMAC is he's a guy that if needed he can step up and fill in for a top 2 dman when they cant play. Thats depth...
The isles on the other hand have this kid playing top dog minutes cause he is so sound. |

To me he needs to go. You need to show the rest of the guys you will not get years to wake up. Isles need to start raising the bar now. - ses111
Totally agree... Take a guy they drafted in the 1st rd and isnt producing anything... Trade him and make an example out of him. |

i dont disagree and wont be terribly disappointed (or shocked) if carkner (brings the physical element to the team) or hickey (brings offensive upside) are scratched.
i just think that Vis can do what AMAC is doing better...IE bringing an offensive element to the blue line, as well as QB the PP. |

Perhaps thats why Okposo was playing with JT? Perhaps Snow was trying to showcase him? Ship him off to Minnesota already..........he's going there one day anyway.

This is very true........but i still dont want Vis on this team. I'd sooner sit his a$$ for all the drama. |

I think Vis can def do what AMAC is doing but better offensively. IDK about on the defensive side tho... Havent seen Vis play all that much. But with that being said I think that AMAC is hands down a better defensman then Carkner and Hickey combined... Plus I dont see him being taken out of the lineup simple cuz Hamonic and him are really comfortable playing together. |

Yep you have to send a mesage sometimes. The rest of the team cannot get comfortable and overconfident with this good stretch. They need to know there is always a chance you can lose your job to someone in Bridge or another team. |

totally unrelated to the islanders, but interesting nonetheless:
RJ Umberger is the only player on the Blue Jackets with a positive +/-, he is leading the team +1....everyone else is either even or minus. |

He's being misused.. he's just not a first line player... His draft position, his game & our expectations for him remind me a whole lot of Bergenhiem. First round talent.. third line specialist.
XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
I wouldn't put him in a bottom-six role though. Gotta crash and bang more than he does for that. He needs to pick up his scoring and be a puck-possession second liner, or else he'll have trouble fitting anywhere. Can't figure out his play...just seems like an entirely different player than he was his second season. |

Great point UIF. He would not fit as a bottom six at this point. He just seems like the type that needs constant pushing. |

Okposo to me is just not the player everyone thought he was. I say put him down to the third line where he belongs. I might actually bench hima few games once Bailey comes back tosee if that wakes him upif not he is expendable. We have so many young guns down in the AHL we realyl dont need him anymore |

I wonder whether Kyle Okposo, a prospect and a pick might be enough to pick up a mid 20's winger who could play with JT and who had some grit to him. It makes you wonder what Snow's doing behind the scenes that doesn't get reported. I'd have to hope he's doing some digging to find out if there's an upgrade out there with the lack of production from KO. Granted, it's 7 games in, but unless he suddenly clicks the way he was at the end of last year I'd have to believe he's going to get demoted to the 2nd or 3rd line pretty soon

oh and boyes continues to show why i think he should be on the top line with JT and MM; although if they dont want to break up the 2nd line right now, fine...when bailey comes back KO must be off that top line.
ill hold out being pissed that KO is still playing with the top line until bailey comes back. if bailey is back and he or boyes havent taken over his spot i wont be happy
(unless of course ko remembers how to play hockey) |

I like AMac... good steady guy, not alot of mistakes. Plays lots of minutes for us right now.
Has nice chemistry with Hamonic!!!
Definately a second pairing guy all day long!!!
Reminds me alot of what Reinhart will bring to the table in the next couple years.
We should resign Streit to a deal now.
I would also try and tie up Hamonic, and AMac this year too.
Streit, Hamonic, Amac, and Reinhart will be steady for us for awhile.
