Yes, Luongo played well in the win.

But he beat Colorado! Look at his career numbers against them since being on Vancouver. The team was what like 15-0 or something like that against them, the shots he faced were not difficult the D including Garrison played very well kept them to the outside and limiting chances.

Tomorrow night will be a much tougher game and should have a playoff atmosphere. I'll be at the Rogers Center enjoying the game.

Two good goalies is an enviable position for any team; two goalies on the roster with their combined cap hit? Not so much...

Like I said though - a good problem to have. Gotta think AV and Gillis would like that 4-5 mil tied up in a back-up/2nd or 3rd line guy though.

I don't know, 5 million for Lu to play every second game or 5 million for Kessel to float.

I think I'd take Lu for 50% of the games over Kessel at 50% effort.

Do you even watch hockey games other than the Canucks? Kessel hasn't floated all year.

its clear you havent seen Kessel play this year. While he hasn't come close to scoring he has worked hard at both ends No way Carlyle would play him 25 miuntes the other night if he was floating.. Keep Luongo..please

They'll have to trade one of them. Schneider signed that contract under the impression that he'd be the starter. He's not going to want to share the net forever. If this doesn't get resolved this season, I would be surprised to see Cory ask for a trade.

I see - so you took a genuine comment about hockey and interpretted it in a way to get a shot in at Kessel/Leafs? Not sure where in my post you figured that was the point I was getting at, but while Kessel is not on the scoresheet yet this year, effort has been the least of his concerns.

You're right. Every team should invest $10 million in goalies. You guys keep right on going there. Based on your previous response, I am looking forward to the inevitable "1967", "Leafs suck" and "Kessel is not worth 2 firsts and a 2nd" reply.

Good to see the mentality of the Canucks blogger mirrors that of the fanbase...

EDIT: I should also mention that 5.3 of that 10 mil is locked in for 10 years, or when the goalie in question is 43. That is straight out of the NHL GM handbook.

Wow, the Luongo envy is rife today!

The Canucks put in a solid effort, but it should never have been that close for that long. The PP was held mostly to the outside, the Sedins look to be a bit out of sync still (Daniel had several quality chances and couldn't convert) and we got outplayed for the first 8 minutes or so in our own building.

Looking forward to the team being pumped to play the Hawks

Sell high. Give him some more games and interest could build. And good on Lou for staying focused.

Short season, why not keep both for a run. Not like Luongo's contract is running out anytime soon. You will get as much for him next year as you will now

Cap space for a banged up 2nd line I would guess.

I really think AV has painted himself into a corner with this one. He goes with Luongo last night becasue it was call. Now it's going to get really interesting. If AV goes with Luongo on Friday, now his "#1" has sat 3 games in row and this will be a full blown goalie contreversy. If he starts Schneider and Schneider gets shelled (which is not far fetched, the Hawks are 6-0-1) what does AV do after that? The only way this doesn't turn into nightmare for the team is if Schneider plays a great game and the team wins. Any other result will maqke things very awkward going forward.

Luongo deserves to be traded, he's been treated like garbage in Vancouver for a couple years now by the fans and by the organization.

The beauty of this is no one is now talking about Canucks real issues. All the polls yesterday were ,what Dman was worse ,where are the Sedins ,will Manny every come back to form. Now, yesterday and today ,everyone is talking about the goalies. Brilliant move by AV and Gillis

Yeah, I can definitely see this as an awkward situation, but the team "seems" to feel that it isn't an issue. I guess we'll see if their constant reassurances are just lip service or not.

Sounds about right... When the nucks win... it was a team effort. When they lose.... Lou stinks. WTF? I actually feel bad for Lou.
