While I think they'll be fine, I agree that there should be a greater sense of urgency to get things turned around. They need to go out and get some players, because rolling out a third line of Boyle-Ferio (sp)-Rupp, and a second line of Stepan-Hagelin and Pyatt isn't going to get it done.
- Pete V

I have no issues with Ferriero nor Pyatt; I could really do without seeing Rupp or Bickel out there though.

As I type this Jon Mitchell scored his fourth of the season.

Bring him back. I kid...or do I?

There was no reason not to resign him, he was reliable but we needed Asham

I'm tired about hearing that the guys we lost didn't score. The team we have now is scoring. Not only are they not scoring but that never say die attitude isn't their either. How do you fix that?
- tomburton99

Well, they really go hand in hand.

Get the attitude back and you end up playing in the opposition's end all game. They get tired and you win the game, be it in comeback fashion or just leading the whole way through.

The Leafs game was a perfect example of how the execution is meant to be done. We played in their end all game, and over 60 minutes it paid off.

Gotta get the urgency back, that is crucial. Again, I think its a streaky game and they will find their game within this system. But its not a systemic problem.

The good news is that in 2 weeks, the lines of

Gabby-Richards-Nash
Cally-Stepan-Hagelin
Kreider-Boyle-Pyatt
Rupp-Halpern-Ferriero

is going to look amazing in comparison.

- Rags2Riches

I agree, but its always better to have too many options, rather than too few. Right now, the team suffers a couple of injuries, and they don't have enough up front. God forbid if Richards or Stepan ever got hurt, then we would be royally screwed. Personally, I like the idea of bringing in another center, who has a little versatility.

Also, if O'Reilly is someone that is really available, I may consider trading one of the Rangers top two offensive prospects for him.

Sans Rupp, that lineup looks alright on paper. But, so many players are currently playing like ass right now

in 48 games season every game is crucial.
- tomburton99

i agree. I think in an 82 games season there would be 0% reason to worry for the long-term. Now they have less time to right the ship, but at least they are still 3-4 so they haven't dug themselves a hole.

I think 20 games in is when we have to start saying "are we going to wake up before its too late"

But 7 games out of 48 is like 12 out of 82, and that is definitely too early to panic.

Big if's from a team playing really small.
- cranford93

On the one hand, i agree because they need to make a big turnaround.

On the other hand, I disagree because of what I know they are capable of, and just having seen so many ups and downs over the years to know you are never as bad as you look in your weakest moment

Panic is what we do around here. Until, of course, the Rangers win on Saturday night, and we'll all be happy as clams.

Yeah, I'm not excited by the goalless Stepan and the ghost of Brian Boyle

The difference this year though is since all games are conference games, every night someone is gaining/passing the Rangers in points when the Rangers don't win.

I agree 100%. But the truth is it is a hard market to operate in right now. And as much as I would love an addition, at the right cost, I do not think we are screwed if we cannot.

Yeah, thats a good point. But again, still too early. Give it 10 more games.

Hagelin looks a lot better, Kreider's played 4 games but Stepan and Boyle better get going or bye bye, I'm not a big Boiler fan anyway.
- cranford93

Worst thing that could of happened two years ago when Boyle netted 20. Never ever see that again. And if he didn't have that year, I doubt he's on this roster right now.

Yea I didn't lose hope, but I am getting a little worried with the lapses in effort level.

Would love to see O'Reilly dealt for pretty much any prospect besides Miller or Kreider

This is my favorite quote from 24/7, maybe my favorite quote ever about the game of hockey, and I just want to share it with you before I go to sleep tonight.

Think about what it means for us.

"Those who know the sport best will tell you that hockey has a certain rhythm to it. Every shift, every game and every season is inevitably packed with ups and downs. Teams are never as bad as they appear during their lowest points and never as good as they seem during their highest ones. The very best teams may not just be talented, but resilient. Not just hungry, but focused. Their sport demands it.”

Is O'Reilly a physical player? Never really watch many Avs games.

O'Reilly is Ryan Callahan, with a little better offensive game.

he's drury before drury turned to crap with us. He's great on faceoffs, good PKer, goes to the front og the NET on the PP. and he score a little bit.

Oh come on with the JT Miller stuff. JT Miller's top-end is what O'Reilly is right now. You wouldn't trade a guy who might be O'Reilly in 3 years if everything works out right for O'Reilly?

We turn our franking prospects into gods around here.

Serious contract dispute right now. The Avs are offering about $3.5 million. He wants north of $4 million. It would probably take Kreider, and even then, the Rangers would need to find away to make the money work.
