I just think Laviolette has to do something rather then nothing. He can throw names in a hat and create lines by pulling names out one by one but it still isn't going to make this line up anymore impressive. It isn't a coaching thing for me. We had a bad offseason, we are expecting a lot from inexperienced players and wishing for the best. We might have to talk to Kimmi about a trade if SE don't find our skating legs starting tomorrow night. Bring your lunch pales and go to work. - SuperSchennBros
I worry that too much juggling could have an adverse effect. Schenn's been bounced between lines and center and wing so far. That's not going to help a young kid.
Hartnell isn't reckless, and lacks the finesse of Giroux? You need balance on a line, not all 3 of the same type of player. Briere can play any Forward spot. - MJL
Yep. Also two years older and more experienced than Schenn. Soft on puck, can be negated when the games get physical, iffy on defense.
If there was a need, well worth the risk. At best, he'd be forcing McGinn to the 4th line. - Jsaquella
The carolina writer on this site said something about him earlier.. really soft on the puck like you said and when the game gets physical he disappears...

Not exactly the type of guy we are dieing for - Flyersgod
I will say this though, Boychuk is going to the IDEAL situation for his own career. He's going to get a shot with Malkin & Neal or Crosby. If he can't make it with them, he's going to be Peter White.
I just see the investment in Couturier & Schenn and see no reason to add a guy that will cut into their ice time that's no sure thing himself.

Yeah no reason to bring in another guy at center. He's isn't going to solve any problems we have anytime soon.
“Obviously, I’m not happy with my game,” Giroux said after Thursday’s rare team practice. “But it’s only seven games. It’s a long season. I’m staying positive, and things are going to turn around pretty quick.” http://www.csnphilly.com/...ealthy-not-happy-his-play
I'm glad G is confident things will turn around, but I hope he remembers that it's not THAT long of a season this year.

I had a Bruins fan wander over to my desk today to say, "So, your team's officially been eliminated from the playoffs. Hahahahahahaha."

It'd be nice to have this squad - especially the role players and bottom six forwards to get some consistent games and establish chemistry with their units. I think some successfully defining shifts, i.e., clearing the puck out, great back checking and even offensive zone possession/cycling/scoring chances can really change the whole team's mental state. Injuries have limited that capacity coupled with a couple players still battling for everyday jobs and Laviolette's tendency to switch up units frequently.

does he ever ... I'm sure other coaches do it as well, but it seems that patience REALLY isn't a virture of Laviotette's.

i was thinkin today about playin max talbot a little bit more, his ice time is always low and its not like he cant score, def has some upside and would like to see him shoot more

Hartnell was once VERY reckless, has only started to come into form in recent years. Its SIMMONDS who lacks finesse, doesnt have a great shot either.. Briere doesnt have alot of history playing on his off-wing. And its not about being the same type players, its about chemistry. That line will be Briere and Giroux with Simmonds swinging like Tiger Woods in front of the net

I'm not really looking for goal production from Talbot. Last season he actually scored more than I would have ever expected. Talbot is at his best on the defensive side of the puck and getting under the opponents skin. Any production from Talbot I consider a bonus.
