The Devils and Red Wings are the best run franchises in hockey. Both are the gold standard.

The Devils are the New England Patriots of the NHL. A team where the system determines the players rather than vice versa. There isn't a more disciplined organization in pro sports (IMO).

While they always find ways to win the hockey gets boring. I cant imagine seeing that type of play game after game year after year.

Keys to winnning
Score early and score first. Isles do that they win. They play the chess match with Devils and they score. Its hard to win.

Devils whole Boring @ss system breaks down when they down on the scoreboard.

Im going to game tonight. LETS GO ISLES.

I don't know. 2006-07 was a fun season for me to watch...bunch of players predicted to finish 30th but snuck into the playoffs based on the strength of their defense, discipline, work ethic and heart. I don't imagine that Islanders team was much fun to watch for other fans, but I enjoyed watching that squad more than even some of the early 2000s teams we had that got easily bounced in the first round. Devils fans probably feel the same way.

Just hope the Isles score first. When the Devils do, the Isles usually spend the rest of the game in a confused fog, unable to figure out how to attack the Devils' D. Not really a knock on them...happens to a lot of teams that play the Devils. They're just that good at taking away lanes. It's why I wasn't ready to drive a nail in their coffin when everyone was picking them to finish near the bottom because of Parise. Team's always better than the sum of its parts.

They always play as a team. It's not about individualism ever. That's why when they got Kovalchuck I was intially skeptical how successful he would be.

Yeah, even though their game is more up tempo and they play more of a offensive game then years past I have a hard time watching Devils games, they are a bit on the boring side.

I hear you, must get boring after a while? Just stating an opinion and mine is the Devils are by far the boringest team in hockey, winning and all. My team has perpetually sucked for over twenty years but for the most part they are not boring, hard to watch maybe but not boring. The Devils as great as they are continue to be boring. You never heard this from anyone else before?

The Devils are the tree that falls in the forest....that said. They may be 'boring' through the regular season, but there's no such thing as boring come playoff time and they always seem to be there. It's like watching a defensive football team consistantly win 10-6. Yeah, not an exciting game, but in the end it's the success that matters.

would really like to see the Isles play similar to how they did as a team against Pittsburgh. That'll keep the Devils chances down and hopefully provide cleaner breakouts for the Isles D if they get the same kind of support from the forwards tonight.

If the game goes into the tank early then at least the weather here in Vancouver is warm enough that I'll take the cover off the bike and fire it up for a ride tonight. Win/win for me today

What is she drinking? What's the fascination with DP ? Is it attraction purely on looks. Hopefully when they move to bklyn. They will get a new blogger for this site. Why is she mentioning Martinek too. Harmonic looked fine at end of Pitt. game. If are best defenseman can play he plays.

Isles sign Brian Strait to a 3 year deal. So far he's been pretty solid.

I shall be. I'm already on bike #2 after crashing the first one last summer. Gravel in a corner I was a little hot into and made quite the mess. Lot more cautious since.

Strait signing is something I think is a good move as he's played solid defensively, but coming this quickly when he's only played a handful of games as an Isles is interesting. I wonder if Streit gets an extension or is trade bait at the deadline.

Don't get me wrong I like the guy but seems kind of quick? It's def a minimal investment none the less, we don't have to worry about the salary cap for the forseeable future.

AMac will be jealous. I still don't know how Snow got him signed that cheaply. Has to be the lowest salary for an NHL defenseman in the league. Isn't it below the minimum?

I don't know how much impact the Strait signing will have on Streits status with us? You're talking about a guy that couldn't break into the Pens D line up and will prob play a 5/6 role once things are settled on the back end for us. Curious about what's going to happen with Streit. If we are out of it by the deadline you can count on him being traded. If we are in the thick of things I wonder what they'll do? 2 year extension? You also have the Captaincy issue(maybe wrong word but for lack there of a better one...). What happens if they extend him, do they make Tavares captain? Should be interesting

I believe that's league minimum?
