Don't understand how right now you can call the JVR trade for Luke Schenn, a bad trade. Looks like a good trade to me so far.
- MJL

I think luke has been excellent this season so far and he's getting better each game. Still has to work on a few things but I'm really impressed with him and happy to have him in Philly at the cost of JVR.

Now Jake on the other hand still does nothing but piss me off every game. Please trade him!!

What year did they win the cup? 08?

I understand who he has played with.

Im not saying ryan is better.. just saying its hard to compare two players who play a different game with different players...

- Flyersgod

2007. Ryan broke in after the Cup win.

Both guys are scoring line wingers, who put up similar goal totals. The difference is Ryan is bigger, while Kessel is more of a speed guy. But people can certainly look at the quality of their linemates and easily say that playing with Getzlaff and Perry would enhance a guys stats more than playing with Tyler Bozak would.

My whole reason for mentioning Kessel is the love affair a lot of folks have with Ryan because he was born in Cherry Hill and grew up a Flyers fan. There are some that would dismiss Kessel out of hand and immediately trade key players for Ryan, when in fact they would fill very similar roles and have had very similar production in past seasons.

I'm not happy with Voracek's play right now either. I'm willing to give him a little bit of time though. Short leash though. This is his 5th NHL Season.

Right, Bobby Ryan has significantly better players on his line, so you have to give some slack to Kessel when comparing the two. However, they're both scoring wingers, not that tough a comparison.

Ryan has a cup. And anaheim isnt exactly a great team..

Cant compare the two bc they are different kind of players..

- Flyersgod

Bobby Ryan
08/09: 64 GP, 15:26 ATOI, 31 goals, 26 assists
09/10: 81 GP, 18:29 ATOI, 35 goals, 29 assists
10/11: 82 GP, 20:11 ATOI, 34 goals, 37 assists
11/12: 82 GP, 18:21 ATOI, 31 goals, 26 assists

Phil Kessel
08/09: 70 GP, 16:34 ATOI, 36 goals, 24 assists
09/10: 70 GP, 19:33 ATOI, 30 goals, 25 assists
10/11: 82 GP, 19:39 ATOI, 32 goals, 32 assists
11/12: 82 GP, 20:03 ATOI, 37 goals, 45 assists

Very comparable players over the past 2 years but Kessel has been more effective with less around him.

I'm sure the one who tore her knee up because she was so freaked out a grown man was hiding in the trunk to "tag" her husband isn't happy to be involved.

I still found it to be a pretty cool story. I loved when the guy broke into the dude's house and his wife's screaming, "Run!!!"

I don't want to play. I have a game of Red Rover scheduled with some buds this weekend. They're probably on their way to New Mexico now...

I wouldnt say a good trade.. Id say even. We are obviously hurting offensively.. JvR would be our leading scorer with his 3 goals.

But in the same breath.. Luke has added something to the back end that we havent seen in years. His physical presence is pretty awesome.

Proven first line winger who scores 30 goals a year every year?

Not sure why you guys hate him so much.

- Flyersgod

Don't hate the player hate the repetition of his name on these threads constantly. He's not the fix to win us a Stanley Cup and most people know that. He's a scoring winger and a good one. It's not like he's a future HOFer.

His play at the point on the PP has been frustrating. Unfortunately we have no other D to put there. Are there any other forwards who may man the point better?

Didn't JVR get most of his points in one game? To me the 'only' productive flyers on a nightly basis this season have been Simmonds, Luke, and Bryz.

At this point it's an even trade... I agree.

Um, subtracting Luke from the D corps is a scary proposition -- I say it's a good trade as it has helped the Flyers.

Lets get real here. The Flyers have sucked on faceoffs since Primeau retired. They neglect the need every damn year.

Yea.. still very early, but so far its been pretty fair. I guess saying a good trade isnt wrong.. I see MJL's point.. but i wanna give it a full season first.. Hell, Schenn could have a fantastic year and fall apart next year.. trades to me arent good or bad until you can look back and judge them. Dumb logic, maybe, but thats how I see it.

Look at the Sharp trade. Could anyone at the time say that would be that terrible of a move? That season even?

In my opinion a trade that works out for both sides, and fills a need for both teams, is a good trade. I'm very happy so far with how the deal is working out for the Flyers. His play right now is even better then I expected.

The Sharp trade...here we go...

The earkly returns seem like both teams got a guy that needed a change of scnery and has started off pretty well in his new situation,
