But he probably never will cuz he just turtles everytime he knows he gonna take a beating... Hes like Avery... Hits, talks sh!t, and then runs and hides except for the rare occasion when he tries to fight someone smaller then him.

He's a grade A pu$$y. Ugly son of a female dog too, couldn't do much more damage to that face.

Phaneuf should have got a call, refs have been missing alot of boarding/charging calls as far as going the Isles way, SOS. I know. In the Boston game there were a few. Mcdonalds hit was a little over the top, he followed through the whole way, it was a bad hit.

Phaneuf plays for an original six team. Original six teams, and players like Crosby and Ovechkin never get the same deal as anyone else for what they do. I'm surprised Talbot didn't get called on the carpet for ripping Callahan's arm off last night, what with the league's precious NY Rag$ fighting for a Cup and all....THIS is why I'd rather see the boys do it themselves...the boys only care about the name on the front of the sweater....not WHICH name is on the front of the sweater...

Eliminate the instigator penalty and calls that are made in the same way and hockey will be a better sport for it. Players like Phaneuf will think twice about planting a young stars head into the boards on a irrelevant play. Accountability is a very scary thing for pu$$ies.

Ken Linseman....but maybe you're not ancient, like I am...I can still see him jumping up and down from behind three of the larger Flyers, talking sh*t to Clark Gillies.....yeah....you wouldn't say that if you were standing in front of me....no, jack*ss, if Clark Gillies was standing in front of you, you'd have no idea what was being said, because you'd be lying on the ice, unresponsive and bleeding....at least Ed Hospodar, who was another piece of cr*p, had the chops to take his beating like a man

Talbot is one of my least favorite players, another turtle. I wish Martin pummled him when he turtled last year. I wouldn't have thought any less of him for doing it.

Funny, When Dion was doing that to Crosby the other night, everybody thought it was great defense, against JT it was dirty. Which is it.

Stop it Butch Ullstrom was in the process of falling down on his own when he was hit. Not even in the same league

He rammed Crosby's head into the boards? If so I wasn't one of the ones saying it. The play was dirty. I hate Crosby but would say the same thing for him or any player for that matter.

Im just trying to prove a point that Isles never get calls... I understand they never do and prob wont until they are a good team every year but If the NHL is trying to stop hits to the head and protect the players then it shouldnt matter... Dupres saw Ullstom falling and in an awkward position and still finished his check. Ullstrom was hurt but if he was, then there would of been a review of it.

NHL just need to be more consistant on there rulings and stop being hypocrits with certain players getting special treatment.

- Bags502

if your trying to prove a point they never get calls, next time use a missed call as an example

How is it totally different if the NHL is trying to eliminate all hits the head???
He drove is head into the boards, so did Mcdonald...

Just be consitant, thats all I ask...

- Bags502

one was correctly called a 5 minute major
the other was a (missed) 2 minute boarding.

Exactly- the game has been away from the circus sideshow long enough that it doesn't need the automatic instigator penalty anymore. No one is going to start a brawl over a legit body check. The reality from years ago is that no one did that ANYWAY; that's largely an urban legend. Most of the brawls started because of an elbow or a two-hander to the back of the head- someone was pretty much always lying on the ice bleeding before anything like that happened.

Nowadays, the third man in/first guy off the bench rules take care of that issue....there's no need to stop the boys from sending ONE message in return for a dirty play.....it just might help get the message across that doesn't seem to sink in when the league office tries to send it, and then eventually, they won't HAVE TO anymore.

Was there much difference in the Colin McDonald hit then the phenuef hit on Tavares last week? Seems both players made no attempt to slow down and rode a player into the boards hard from behind.

Believe it or not, NO ONE in the Rangers club has as much pull as Ed Snider. NO ONE.

I'm the other way. I thought Mcdonalds hit last night was much worse then Dion's hit on JT. I thought he would get 1 game but I can't complain about the ruling
- Vukota

McDonald's hit warranted a suspension. Two games is fair. As Shanny said, it was a reckless hit, not a malicious one, just a reckless one. I agree about the Ullstrom hit also, not a dirty one.

My issue isn't with suspension on McDonald. It's with no penalty of any sort on phenuef. He rode a player into the boards from behind. Fine maybe? If the NHL is trying to rid themselves of hits like that, they are fooling me.

Oh, there will be a suspension from the Phaneuf hit, don't worry.....when Carkner skates by him during the warmup and knocks him out, Carkner will be suspended. ...hey....weren't we just talking about that movie a couple of threads ago?

Well someone needs to send a message. He will stop. He never actually stands up for himself either. That moulson goal after that hit was so classic.

No matter how much i hate the idea of Vis playing on this team he will add a nice element and some points from the point to this team. With that said I still do not want him putting on an Isles sweater. These guys are for the most part playing "balls to the wall" . I don't want this guy coming in that obviously doesn't want to play with them. (frank) Vis. It's a matter of having a little pride in the team, something that this orginization lacks.
- Cptmjl

They need to get him here for no other reason than to increase his trade value, which is basically zero while he's sitting on his ass in Slovakia. His whole line about it not being the Islanders he's avoiding may or may not be true, but until he proves it by showing up other teams have to have in the back of their minds that maybe he's telling the truth. And who in their right mind (insert Snow joke here) would give up anything for him with that uncertainty hanging over him?

cant compare the mcdonald hit and the phenouf hit...totally different.

i dont think phenouf should be suspended; my issue with that is he didnt even get a penalty.

- LetsGoIsles

Yes I can

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRzGyYDCKlQ

Let me be clear… This is a penalty. He got a 5 minute major and now has a 2 games suspension. All of these he deserved… now here is my question.

How is THIS not a penalty.. or a suspension? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTzTumbIo7w
