12:07PM: Gross notes that the lines at practice are:

-Marian Gaborik, Brad Richards, Rick Nash
-Carl Hagelin, Derek Stepan, Taylor Pyatt
-Mike Rupp, Brian Boyle, Benn Ferriero
-Stu Bickel, Jeff Halpern, Arron Asham

Who is comfortable rolling with this for anymore than a couple of games?

...or even a single game?

Wouldn't the problem be the money with O'Reilly. Heard the Avs have already offered him two years at $3.5 million per, and he is asking for $5 million. In a straight up hockey trade, no doubt I would do it, but not sure how the money would work.

I know the focus is on the forwards but Girardi, McD, Staal, and MDZ need to step up and we can survive this for a bit.

EDIT: WTF would we do if we didn't get Ferriero?! poop.

I just saw a tweet where Torts mentioned he wouldn't be against trying Gilroy up front for a game depending on opponent.

Actually, I was a little strong with that. I do it for Miller, because I think Miller's best case is becoming Ryan O'Reilly. Not sure about Kreider. That would help the team now, but maybe Kreider's the better player in 2-3 years.

More I think about it the more a Boychuk claim is a no brainer. It is a matter, of if he drops to them.

You know its bad when you have to resort to playing AHL defensemen at forward.

How is waiver priority even determined now? Is it the present standings, which would seem to be a little arbitrary only a few games in.

Pretty sure its current standings. If its before the first game of the year it goes by the standings from the previous season

I'm use to it by now. I thought McDonald would get 1 game but it was a nasty hit. Funny thing is Phaneuf didn't even get a penalty

Probably best news possible for #NYR on Ryan Callahan: Shoulder subluxation, out 10 days to 2 weeks.
