they would be fine as the third pairing... we need more defensivly solid Dmen.. pysyk and McNabb will be nice additions when/if they are ready. them along with myers and ehrhoff could be nice. but we still don't have a shut down d pair. - SabresFaninIndiana
Agree
And I think McNabb will be very good
If we could just find a true "shutdown" type to play with Ehrhoff,
I think McNabb & Myers could be a solid 2nd pair
And then we have a host of viable 3rd pair options to choose from
They just have to be more sensible with their decisions. For their second "big move", in the "chains are off era" (first was Mr. Brad Boyes), I don't think people will be telling their kids about Reghr's time in Buffalo. - Buffalo--Sabres
to get a player like that you almost have to develope them.. they don't last long in the NHL. McKee was the same way after he left buffalo just like regher and rivet. we need to hope that McNabb or McCabe can be a shut down type guy..
There is something to be said about his skill set alone. You don't dismiss talent. You will find examples of guys who have talent and don't develope the fundementals until a few years into their career. I don't think you will ever find too many players who develope natural talent that Myers has. Again the argument that he doesn't use his size is just plain stupid. His reach and ability to take pucks off of players sticks is due to mostly his height and length. People expecting him to fight are going to be badly disappointed - sbroads24
Or is the goal to win a cup now compared to 6yrs form now if ever with him. Do we have time for the wait and see approach with him? Depending on the return does moving him make the team better? - dadeadhead
if you don't trade him this year you keep him and hope he pans out, while we make moves up front.. i think we need to be tougher and more solid on the back though. regher was a nice thought he was just sleding down the hill when we picked him up. - SabresFaninIndiana
100% agree
We need McNabb to be "ready" ASAP to get some toughness back there

we currently have abotu 10 options that could easily slot in as 5/6/7 dmen in the NHL

But even if he did get that 7mil per deal (let's say for 6years),
That's 42 mil total
Plus the 6mil from this contract now
That's 48mil over the next 8 years
That's 6mil per when u average it out,
And they eliminated a lot of the risk for what amounts to an extra .5mil per season
Signing Myers to a shorter deal would've been a better way to go,
Even if he did become "chara" and demand 7mil for his next deal - jdfitz77
Again how do we know he would have automatically signed a shorter deal

We don't know for sure,
But most guys don't sign huge deals for their 2nd contract...
So I'd guess there's something we coulda gotten done
I was more just pointing out that signing him to that deal didn't really save us $$$ if both sides chose to do a shorter deal,
Even if he did hit it big on the next one
Hey bud,
Not blaming you for this...
But whatever dumbass submitted that video to YouTube is an idiot
Bob marley was dead for quite a while when "don't worry be happy" came out
That song is by bobby mcferrin
And while I like it,
It's shameful to suggest it was done by the legendary bob Marley...
Sorry,
I'm a big music geek...

Ps,
Did u see my post earlier about Armia?
He could join us in as soon as a month!!!
That's why I'm so focused on solidifying the "top4" - jdfitz77
They need a shut down dman. Ehrhoff is a top 4 man but he isn't shutting anyone down. of our dmen the only defensive minded guys we have are regher (slow and really slow) and weber.. that isn't going to win you any Stanley Cups.
