we have been saying it for a long time... but some how the team goes on a run and saves lindy's ass.. i can't think kof any other team owner that would put up with the much mediocrity. At least Toronto is trying to make changes.. they just don't make the right ones
- SabresFaninIndiana

James Patrick, Craig Ramsey, Patrick Roy, any assistant coach in Detroit, Nashville, STL, PIT or NYR....

I would be happy as our new HC.

I liked Paille. Never thought he was the player Garth proclaimed him to be but thought and still think he was the perfect 4th liner.
- dadeadhead

agreed, he is hand of fist a much better 4th liner than anyone that we have.. Ellis and Scott don't deserve a roster spot.. Hecht is alright but they keep trying to make him a 3rd liner

You guys lost in OT, and that sucks, but you also lost Kaleta.

Doesn't the extra point, and not having to watch that joker skate for you make it all worthwhile?

- Feeling Glucky?

since his headbutting suspension he really hasnt been that much of a greaseball. not quite a matt cooke turnaround, but hes actually a useful player now.

if someone made me a respectable offer for girgensons i'd take it instantly. i'm not holding much hope for him. the rest of the list i agree, although i'd add leopold depending on how fast you are planning this "rebuild" to take place.

leopold is a good defenseman to have on your team

- robz228

so you didn't watch the game last night or any game this season...

Girgensons and you are giving up already?? wtf? He is straight from the USHL and is what 19 years old maybe 20...

I didnt say giving up, i just dont think hes going to be an impact player. If you had to include him in a package with regehr or sekera or something for an impact player i would do it.

A 4th line of Paille, Hecht, and Tropp would've been ideal. Problem is one was traded, one blew a knee, and the other like you said they keep trying to make a 3rd line player.

I'd pull a Philly or Boston really. Move Miller, Leo, regher, and Ennis for younger roster players and picks. Tank the season and retool for next year. Make a move for Bernier and O'Reilly. Fire Lindy. I don't think it's all doom and gloom, just change is needed.

I'd hate to tank but they could turn it around in one season like those two teams.

- dadeadhead

The Kings did it pretty "Quick" so it can be done. Truthfully I would much rather watch the games knowing were trying to re-build instead of watching this crap. I think they could go as far as moving Myers and Vanek as well but if they are not willing to clean house behind the players on up then it’s really not worth dumping anyone.
Could be the worst time in history to be a Buffalo sports fan! We have a football team that thinks they play on Saturdays and this hockey team that looks like the Keystone cops on the ice....

alright well if the package is that sweet then maybe... i really see Girgensons being our 2C of the future.. hard nosed on defense.. with offensive upside... big body on the forecheck... I know a lot of scouts thought that he was a future NHL captain and that is not easy to find any more.

Gerbe's high point season was just like Paille's.. they were half luck goals that you can't bank on getting every season. once the horseshoe fell out of both their asses it was known they were not as good as that season showed.. Difference was paille was solid defensively and had a spot on teams 4th lines.
- SabresFaninIndiana

I would take Paille over who we drafted with that pick (Sundher) or guys like Ellis and Hecht, he was traded because Lindy needed to have room on the roster for less skilled guys like Peters and Mair. It's the same story

The Myers thing has been beaten to death so I didn't wanna include him. Plus Darcy would admit the price of the extension was a mistake. If Ruff is gone Vanek stays. If Ruff stays Vanek will not resign IMO.

With both Vanek and Pommer being UFAs after next season.. I say.. sign them to the same 3-4 year deal worth about 6-6.5M... if Vanek sighs.. then forget him and I would prefer Pommer any way.

that would be a tough line.. i hope tropp makes it back from that injury, but i fear he will never be the same

What is everyone's thoughts on Brendan Morrow being a UFA after this season? 34 years old and made 4.1M this year... would he be worth bringing in for our 2 line?

I put money on it that we make a serious attempt to sign Nic Antropov this off-season.. Regier wanted him bad a few years bad via trade or UFA I remember... gotta have another 6'8 guy!

and the best way to get out of that is to blow it up.. otherwise you are stuck in mediocrity until you get lucky.

That's why I laugh when people argue that it is Darcy's final call on players like Paille or Eillis, no way any GM pictures Matt Ellis as a guy that they can play on their 3rd line. That's Lindy wanting to keep him around. Just like Gerbe has fallen out of favor (he deserves too) so did Paille and Macarthur, etc. All so we make sure Ellis is available to move up the lineup, it's a complete joke

It takes a GM willing to think outside the box.

When Thornton was moved the entire hockey world thought it was the dumbest move in hockey history.

No that would be the Kessel trade.
