I believe trading away Kessel would be a mistake. Chances of getting the right return for him are probably small and he'd only go on to score 50 with his new team. Trading away stars (young with a bright future) never works for Toronto.

Offer sheet is a disaster waiting to happen, the only players worth offer sheeting you have to over pay as the teams with match, and then you are giving away more 1sts...The leafs cant take more risks like that.

Free agents do not seem to want to play for an average team (any worth a damn), thats all the leafs are with the current lineup.

True, but it doesn't mean that you renew your lease on the Tempo when it comes up on July 1st, 2013.

He's a third line centre, except he isn't physical. His numbers are inflated due to the ice time he is given by default. He hasn't scored anything this year that I couldn't have done, and he has missed 100 golden opportunities.

And teams can key on Kessel, because they don't have to worry about Bozak.

Would I re-sign him at the end of the year?

Nope. He'll be looking for more money than he is worth. I'd rather go elsewhere.

The key problem is the contract/desire to play here. Everything I've seen leads me to believe he'd be much happier in a non-hockey city. Just speculation, of course, but the risk of him walking for nothing and scoring 50 with an other team would be pretty demoralizing.
