Depends on where we finish we would mostly try and get jones or Drouin. We dont really need centers so I could see us maybe moving the pick or one of our better center prospects since we are loaded with centers. - Crazycaboose
I am always amazed at how a position can look deep, right up until you decide to trade one cause you are so deep. Consider all the depth Vancouver had before trading Hodgson. Next Kesler gets hurt and they are crying about lack of centers. |

can see reasons why you would want to keep him, but then again i can understand wanting to just cut bait, and get as much as you can for him. would love to move a package involving a d prospect and a first for him from the pens - stayinthefnnet

Really, though. At this point, since the man responsible for drafting Rielly with the "defense first" mentality has since been fired, is there really any point on harping about who the Leafs should have drafted instead? - p_zub
All I know is that if Nonis drafts a dman with his first rounder this year I'm going to snap. Unless he's come from the future and confirmed that guy is a bonafide HOFer and will lead us to multiple Cups then we don't need a dman.
We need centre more than anything else. Go with Leafman's approach: just draft all centres and hope one of them is a star. The rest you can convert to wingers, bury in the minors, trade, whatever...we need that #1 C more than anything, even more than goaltending. |

Grig fell to 12th... based on all the other teams that passed on him, and the early season results... I am leaning towards No - senstroll
Come on now, grigs fell cus teams were hesitant to draft a 27 year old. |

If we do end up trading Kessel and going rebuild, I hope we finally just do it right. No more rebuilding on the fly, keep some of the younger core and then start trading everyone for picks and prospects. We could really get a good return for a bunch of guys we have. Then give a lot of young guys a chance for big minutes. We have unintentionally half tanked the last 5 years, how about we actually full tank for a couple, we already have a decent prospect pool, and then become consitently competitive for 10+ years.
I'm tired of this constant half "rebuild" crap. - pbrsimps
Trade - Grabbo, Kulimen, Gunnerson, McArthur, Bozak, Franson and Liles
without those guys the Leafs should be able to be bad enough to get a top 3.

I disagree.
You really need to watch Kane more.
Hey...I'm a huge Kessel fan but I think Kane has more skill and greater upside. I wonder about his head sometimes though. - stormey
I will make a sincere effort. It's just that I watch enough terrible hockey as a Sabres fan that I'm not sure I could stand to double it up watching 'peg. Choosing between watching Boston vs NYR and Winnipeg vs Phoenix is usually going to favor Boston NYR. |

kessel has had a slow start, big deal.....he always comes through. This is a young player who has done exceptionally well in goals and points every year he has played in the NHL. If the Leafs trade him it should be to finally get the Kessel trade distraction over, for the benefit of the team and player! The Toronto media has been relentless with this young man and he deserves better. The fact that he could demand 7 or 8 million as stated in this article says it all. There are no gaurantees in the draft, and if Toronto gives up on Phil for draft picks they are again throwing the dice while they watch a quality/young star player walk.
That said, Kessel for Kane and a pick. - Bullot

Little Ladd and Wheeler were a line 16% of the time. So 3 times as often.
Kane was all over the map. |

This is why I think the Sabres are so hesitant to trade a D out. Even with 4 NHL 5-6 calibre D they have. |
