It wasn't an insult. I thought you were a Leafs hater, and I read "any smart gm wouldn't part with a 1st for Kessel, unless they are a contending team." A team like Florida could potentially part with a 1st. They aren't contenders.
- Allstarzz

If they need to move Kessel, I would much prefer they shoot for a blue chip prospect +, someone close to being an impact player in the league.

it does suck though that the pens dont really have the pieces you guys need. gardiner looks like a keeper on the back end for you guys so your need for d prospects isnt really that great.

goligoski for neal was an asbolute fleecing.

I thought we were discussing how he's "not even close" to being as talented.
- AdamFrench

Well, what does that have to do with him being black?

COME ON NOW

Is he centering the top line? Haven't been watching colorado .. yeah they probably would not give him up then
- Mapleleafs_91

Once O'Reilly is back, Duchene probably goes back to 3rd line C like last year.

Landeskog is a winger though. Last season O'Reilly was the #1 C, Stastny was 2nd line C and Matty D was the 3rd line C.

Kessel+Gardiner for Duchene+1st?

Interesting.

- Feeling Glucky?

hmmmm, that is interesting.

still don't think it's colorado though. especially considering they traded away last years 1st for varlamov. probably real hesitant to part with that pick.

Obviously, dallas should not of traded neal, they had like no forwards at the time i believe?

Philly had alot of players and youth so JVR was expendable but could very much turn into an impact player.. while schenn is schenn he could improve but JVR has the higher ceiling

There's been talk of Winnipeg not liking Kane, and lots of rumours of off-ice issues with the guy.

He's also flat out not as talented as Kessel, IMO.

If you can get a puck moving defense man like Gardiner, and Kessel. I think that would remove any hatred for the trade.

i honestly still have a hard time rationalizing that from dallas' perspective. i understand they still had a veteran in morrow, and benn and erikkson up front, but come on. and niskanen, who was viewed as a cap dump, has been a decent player as well. it just shows that young puck moving d men can become pretty coveted i guess

E. Kane might be more athletic. I think Kessel has better hockey sense and skills. Based on limited observation of both players. Both players clearly overshadowed by The Great Grigorenkopus

Kane is a bigger more physical version of Kessel.

maybe, but you're giving up a top line center and probably a top 5 pick. that's a buttload to trade, no matter what the return.

Agreed, his skills as a playmaker are underrated, massively. I was hoping we'd be able to sign Kovalchuk a few years ago- he and Kessel could be an insane duo.

feeding the puck to Lupul got him to 82 points(imagine if he'd had Lupul all season). Playing with a top-flight goalscorer could see Kessel in the 90 point range, IMO
