Hey guys, I am actually coming to the Joe for my first game Feb 23rd. Any Recommendations for pre and post game? Also, how are you guys to opposing team's fans?

Can't wait for the experience!!

There's always the casinos. Greektown has some good little restaurants. Or you could hit Lafayette Coney Island. There's a few bars in the warehouse district that provide free shuttle to and from the game. Atwater Brewery is a good one if you like craft beers. There's quite a bit to do downtown if you do a good google search.

I think we're not really that far apart on our takes, but of our currently healthy defenders I would put at least Kronwall, Smith, and Ericsson ahead of Lashoff so far. Lashoff has been steady and I'd absolutely trust him out on the ice if you needed to bottle a lead in the late stages of a game, but in the middle of a wide open game or from behind I just don't think he does as much to help you as those guys.

Yes... I agree with you here. Lashoff is great insurance right now and has showed he's progressing, but he's still below the other players you mentioned.

Good to see Filpula get back on the score sheet. This team needs his offense. The Wings dominated the third period against the hawks... just wish they would have scored.

Anybody else notice that Cleary is absolutely terrible every time he is on the ice ?? I see him cough up the puck darn near every shift he has. He's constantly getting out-muscled off the puck in the corners, behind the net, etc... Why the heck to we still have these older waste of space players in Cleary, Samuellson, Bert, Mursak and Emmerson. Man.... I wish they'd call up Nyquist, Andersson, and Tatar and put them on the same line in Detroit to see what they can do.

Bertuzzi and Emmerton I can tolerate as they are used in moderation and not in an event of creating a momentum swing.

Cleary, needs to be a health scratch. terrible. He cannot even keep possession of the puck in the offensive zone.... at least Emmerton and Bert can do that.

But in essence you are right, get rid of the old and let the youngies play.

I typically ignore most of what you post, because it's always the same impractical whining nonsense... But this time, seriously?

It's a given that Cleary has been fairly atrocious thus far into the short season, but as for the rest of your ridiculous statement...

A. Samuelsson has played TWO games, and hence been injured and scratched. Who looked good after two games? Not even Datsyuk or Zetterberg. The man is a valuable two-way veteran SHOOTING forward (which we lack in spades) when healthy.
B. Bertuzzi? Who has great chemistry with Datsyuk, great hands, good speed for his age, massive size (that makes room for Pav and Fil/whoever), a good forechecker, has adapted to our system honorably, is money in the shootout... Need I go on? I think I made that point.
C. Mursak... Again, another player with a short stint. LESS THAN 1 FULL GAME. I agree with the fact that he doesn't have a place on our team or within the organization, but to classify him as a "waste of space" is drastically over-exaggerating. He has great speed and is fantastic on the fore-check. He has value, but simply doesn't fit the build of our 4th line.
D. Emmerton: You can NEVER have too many centers. He isn't bad on face-offs. He is responsible defensively. He has good speed, is disciplined, and good on the fore-check. He is a prototypical 4th line center. Think Draper without elite face-off or speed skills. Better hands, though.

Babcock will make sure this team has it's $h1t together. Quincey has surprisingly and drastically improved his defensive play of late. First 4 games I thought he was hands-down THE worst defenseman in the NHL. Now, he might not be a bad 3rd pairing guy. I'd wait until the quarter-mark (12 games) until I release a writ of absolution on anyone's actual value to this team.
