The Flyers have now lost JVR, Jagr and Hartnell as forwards and have replaced them with... get Ready!!!..... Feds, Knuble and Sestito.

And some wonder why goal scoring is down...

This team was suppose to take a step forward, but looking at the unbalanced lines and 3rd pairing defense, this season is a wash.

Why is Rusty on this team? He adds 0 value. McGinn is a much better play at this point.

The defense is horrible.

Bryz has been a shining star this year.

McGinn and Fedetenko fill 2 different roles on this team. In 5 on 5 play, the Flyers have given up 5 goals in 7 games. It is the the PP, PK, and a lack of generating offense that are the issues. Taking too many penalties is also a big issue.

They lost Hartnell to injury. They are not replacing JVR and Jagr with Fedetenko, Knuble, and Sestito. They are role players on this team, not scoring line forwards. They have asked the young players on this team, Schenn, Couturier, Voracek, Read, etc. to step up and take on bigger roles this year. That is a natural progression on a team.

I don't think that for Schenn or Voracek. I think Schenn could be a 20-25 goal guy, who notches 55-65 points a year and provides physical, two way play as a 2nd line center. I expect Voarcek to be a 20 goal guy who scores 50-55 points. That's hardly expecting them to be Crosby or Malkin.

I expect the same kind of offensive potential from Couturier that I do from Schenn, but I expect Couturier to be a near-Selke level defensive forward.

The thing is, I also expect potholes along the way.

Thanks for talking me down a bit. I've been very disappointed in Couturier's game so far this season. He was always the one of the three (Voracek, B. Schenn, Couturier) that I felt could really make a huge impact on this team and he's been awful. I'd go shake him if I felt it would help. But I'll be willing to let them have some more time for growing pains. Although if I see anymore exceptionally bad passes I might just begin throwing things. Our turnovers last night were ridiculous. Why block shots when you can just cover passing lanes since that's all we'll ever do?

Thank goodness for Briere. He showed up last night. I could have hugged him.

Youre only allowed to like one team.

But you have to hate the gm and the healthy scratches.
