i didnt put those expectations on him the media did.I am sorry but when your the centre piece of a trade that sends your captain the other way you better friggin perform.I dont care about age when i see other players his age doing it.
- richiewinthecup

So because the media put unrealistic expectations on a player that warrants the wrath of a fan base when a player doesn't meet them? Also by your reasoning every forward should total over or around 2 thousand points because others have done so. Brayden is still younger and has fewer games than Ryan did at this stage in his career just relax. Also the emergence of Giroux and other factors dictated the Richards trade. Please tell me what were the exact expectations placed on b schenn and by what media outlets, I'd appreciate it thanks.

Bryaden Schenn definitely needs to step up his offensive game, but the impatience of some fans has me wondering how old they are. Sure there's guys that scored 30 goals at age 21. There's others, like John LeClair, that didn't notch a 20 goal season until their mid-20's.

Players develop at different speeds and deal with different situations. A player like Ryan got to step in and play immediately with guys like Perry and Getzlaff. He didn't have to deal with being traded or changing positions.

People forget that when Mike Richards was Schenn's age, he was coming off an 11 goal rookie year and was starting on a 10 goal sophomore year before breaking out as a 22 year old.

Brayden Schenn has to start playing like he is the real deal, tired of hearing about his potential. At this time in his career Bobby Ryan was already a 30 goal scorer.Wonder if Ryan still wants out of anaheim.Schenn of course is not the only problem here a coaching change would do a world of good also,Lavys time is up never been impressed with his system.Although the flyers have done major player changes the results and work ethic are the same.imo

I tend to agree with you. I like Schenn, but this guy was ranked as the #1 prospect in hockey. I get that he's only 21, but I need to see some more scoring. The running around and hitting everything is great, but we need goals.

so laughton thinks he needs to get stronger...i posted that when i was sizing up his game...didn't stop arbitrary responses from the self designated cognoscenti...just another day here at HB

LET'S GO FLYERS!

He's 18 years old. Of course he needs to get stronger. Couturier needs to develop and get stronger. B Schenn needs to develop and get stronger. He showed in his play here, that he could. He was sent down due to the numbers crunch at Forward. And so he can play big minutes in key situations. I never objected to that reasonable argument. I felt he was going to stay, which I was wrong about. But those that stated that he wasn't ready for the NHL, were incorrect in my opinion.

probably not. not against a rested lundy. which is why it's imperative they stay out of the box tonight.
- hammarby31

No question about it. The best way to improve the PK, is to limit the amount of times they go to the sin bin. A combination of taking the most penalties and an awful PK isn't exactly a stellar mix.

Brayden has 2 more years until he will be 21-22.. which is the age Ryan did it
- jak521

Ryan did hit 30 around the age Brayden is now but that's not the norm for an NHL player. Nor does it make Schenn or other players lousy or deserving of vitriolic criticism. Granted he's been less than exciting this season but so has the rest of the team as whole save maybe one or two guys.

Hitting 30 goals as a 21 year old player is the exception, not the norm as you state Joe. Players develop at different paces, I don't comprehend why that is hard for some people to follow.

All players develop at their own and different pace. B Schenn has played 80 NHL games. And he has scored 15 goals and 16 assists in those games. Mike Richards in his first NHL Season recorded 11 goals and 23 assists. I agree that Schenn needs to pick up his play, but he is still basically a rookie.

Yes, he is defintely strong enough to play in the NHL now. He was not overwhelmed in this League. That does not mean he doesn't need to get stronger.

I think this would count as Snider putting the tam on notice.

I think if they're still struggling at the 10 game point, we see something happen. Maybe Laviolette walks the plank, maybe Snider forces a deal...impatience will rear it's head

I agree he needs some time and the offense will pick up but for some reason I just dont see huge offense from him in the future. We havent seen flashes of great hands or a great shot that may be a little inconsistent now that may become a steady part of his game.

I like the edge he plays with but i hope he stops dropping the gloves. I love a good fight but he hasnt faired to well in the few ive seen him in.

I think he had 9 points in 11 playoff games last year. I think that's pretty good. I once thought Mike Richards didn't have a lot of offensive potential in his rookie year.

he didn't think he was strong enough

"It's definitely strength, getting bigger for the next level," Laughton said. "I thought my speed was pretty good here but definitely strength. I'm 190 [pounds] and want to get to 195, build strength. [I need to] get bigger in the upper body."

if you hurry, you can grab airfare to oshawa to argue with him face-to-face...

He's only shown flashes. I think people expecting a consistent 30-35 goals will be disappointed. I think he's eventually going to be a guy who scores 20-25 and 60-65 points, while being a physical, two way center. That's pretty much what he was projected to be, all along.

People got that "Number One Prospect" idea in their heads and expected Crosby or something.

He was great in the playoffs till Asham tried to seperare his head from his shoulders. i Just remember having a different feeling about Richards when he first came into the league. I also dont think Richards would have been considered the #1 prospect not in the NHL at any time.

The Boss is 80 and wants another Stanley Cup. Maybe he should have forced Clarkie to address the issues the team faced when Lindros was still healthy, or ordered him not to dump defensive depth in 2004.

I don't even have to look this up to know it's wrong, Kadri has 24pts in 56 games played and is out scoring B. Schenn career wise.

Anyhow, just passing through checking on a reported post.

One of the things that has crossed my mind is that Snider could push Holmgren to trade up and get Seth Jones at any cost because of his Youth Hockey Fundation. Jones could be the 1st African-American superstar in the league and though his back story is vastly different than innercity kids, he could be a very big roll model.
