only in montreal would they back load a deal
- 2Real

Is the punchline that the Flyers signed Claude Giroux to a backloaded contract? Because the Flyers signed Claude Giroux to a backloaded contract.

While part of me appreciates his candid response, the flyer fan in me wishes he just gave the usual pr line like "in a rough patch dealing with unjuries, still early in the season, haven't been as good as we know we are etc, etc." eviscerating a portion of the team publicly isn't conducive to succes IMO.

Well, Matt Read really doesn't count, what with being overrated and all.

Who can resist Bill's reviews? His are the best on this site hands down so it's encouraging to see other fans here! Bill if I haven't said it before you have the journalistic presence and crafted writing style to be covering much bigger world events than hockey. I for one am selfishly glad that we have you covering the Flyers.

Maybe fans from other teams can become more edumecated about our boys and maybe, just maybe root for them from the dark side of their hearts (when no one is looking). And if not then knowing your enemy is never a bad thing.

Amazing. Half the board was prepared to pay him 5year, 25 million of
Mr Snider's money.
Now a one uyear 3.75 is an albatross for the Habs

Kinda makes me sad that he signed so cheap...

Out of our top 6.. he's be the 2nd cheapest.

second cheapest and our best. circumstances are a bit different with him, but i hear you.

teams wanted to really cut down on the second contracts and the habs just made 29 other teams pretty happy with that subban deal.

this, too.

edit: not saying he'll be shea weber, but their numbers through this point in their respective careers are nearly identical, except subban was much more heavily leaned on in all situations during the course of his ELC than weber during his. weber got three years at 3.75 per. first year of arb he got 7.5. pernell will get his provided he stays healthy.

For sure... i hate seeing players get paid so early in their career.. when you're filthy rich at 22 you're not going to make the smartest decisions.

For his sake i think this was perfect. Gives him 2 years to still try and "prove" he has he has it. When players stop trying to "prove" what they have they almost don't progress any...

I'm still trying to figure out what happened to Coburns offensive ability. He makes matt carle look like gordie at this point!

Bil has never even suggested that they fire Stevens, trade Carter or murder Bryzgalov

He would have pulled his groin in his first week with the Flyers, so don't worry about it too much.
