Gillis said in between seasons ,Canucks will get bigger and younger. It is no surprise that our two best players have been Kassian and Tanev. I think next year Gaunce Jensen and Lack will be great additions too along with the following year of Corrado.
Players get old . We are a dimishing asset and do need some changes.
I feel 100 times better for next year than this year. That is why I think we should take our lumps , make some moves .
I know Fosco will flip but I would trade Luongo Raymond and Edler for L.Schenn Simmonds (or Couturier) and a prospect . Schenn is a right handed tough Dman that bangs and can score . Simmond can give you second/third line toughness and score . - VANTEL I think he would flip but It could be one of those changes that would seriously improve both team by stirring up the locker room. Core changes aren't always a bad idea. |

That cup contender is a year removed.
Not a blow up required but 1 or two major trades only - VANTEL
I don't mind a trade or two, but someone suggested blowing up the team. I also don't want to make a trade just to shake up the team. If things are too comfortable than I'd rather see a coaching change, if there is an upgrade out there. Regardless, i'd like to at least see another 6-10 games played before this happens.
Also, just because we were bounced in the 1st round last year doesn't mean we are no longer a contender.
Would you also suggest the Hawks, Pens and Bruins are no longer contenders?

I've seen some knee-jerk reactions in my time....but my oh my.
Blow up a cup contending team because of a .500 start after 6 games coming out of a lockout?? - golfingsince
Not to mention they are missing 2 top 6 forwards... and 90 percent of the team including every single top 6 + top 4 D haven't played a meaningful game until about 2 weeks ago.
GIVE YOUR HEAD A SHAKE EVERYBODY... im hearing things like not making the playoffs... canucks will be lucky to get above .500... blah blah blah. Even if this team had the worst statistical season in the past decade... and Lu and Schneids both play average.. they still make the playoffs. Thats how good this team is (in the regular season)
I'm not worried about it.. I'd actually prefer Minny winning the division.. and Canucks finishing around 5th. Takes a bit of the pressure off.. and this team can focus on the playoffs instead of winning the presidents trophy for a 3rd time.. or whether one of the sedins will win the Hart.
This year needs to be different.. one way or the other... and if it means going thru a little bit more adversity than usual.. then by all means. The status quo right now for this team is winning the presidents trophy.. and look how far that got us last year. I'm not worried one bit... maybe if after 20 games they are still at .500.. then maybe. |

When's the last time a team made 2 major trades during the season? It's incredibly difficult to pull off one major trade, let alone two. When healthy, the only major hole we have is 3rd line center since Burrows can now move to the second with Kassian on the top line. And I'd like to see Schroeder get an extended look at that spot since his 2-way game looks good.
Centers: Henrik, Kesler, Schroeder/new 3LC, Lappy
Top 9 Wingers: Daniel, Kassian, Burrows, Booth, Raymond, Higgins, Hansen(1 extra that can make our 4th line strong or be used to acquire a center)
We have a great goalie duo and I think our defense will be just fine once Garrison gets more comfortable and Edler gets going. Tanev and Ballard both look really solid this year. I hope AV doesn't breakup |

We need to work on that shoot out. We are a joke when it comes to the shootout. So far half our games have come to a shootout and AV looks like he hasn't got a clue how to deal with it. If we had two more wins in this short year we would not be here second guessing. - VANTEL
No the penalty kill needs major work. Key problem is no Kesler we need this guy in a huge way. If this season started out on time and we still had no Kesler I truly believe that this team would be fighting for 8th spot in the playoffs. Our defence first system does not work as well without its Selke back bone. |

Meh. I like Edler, but I've always maintained that I'd be ok with trading him if the return improved the team—it's just that many of your proposal's don't
I like Couturier, so I'd be ok with a deal based on him. Not a big fan of L Schenn, though. Canucks would also have to find another offensive D somewhere.
I'm just not ready to hit the panic button after 6 games with a .500 record.
People have said SJ's window has been closing for longer than the Canucks, and that they should rebuild—now everyone's blowing their load over them.
Never put too much stock in 6 games, unless it's the playoffs. |

Well put.. We have a good team no point in pushing the panic button. Everyone is always gunning for the most hated team in the league and we saw last night how a flat hated team played with a team that was hungry for a home win. I thought we played a good road game. It could have been a lot worse but it wasn't. |

Until the Canucks are healthy, they are going to have trouble beating the "Elite" teams.
All they need to do right now is beat the Weak/Average teams, keep their head above water, and wait for Kesler and Booth to return. While relying on goal tending like last night.
It's essentially a first line, two third lines, and a fourth line for the Canucks right now.

Hawks and Bruins have brought in some youth and Pens brought in some key pieces.Hawks also added some toughness to the bottom pair of their D
A Lungo Edler trade should bring back a very strong Dman and top 6 . Your heart and soul of the Canucks is Burrows Sedins and Bieksa ,I would not move any one of those 4 . |

There is no panic button . Be realistic about where the Canucks slot in ,in the overall league
Chicago LA SJ BOS ST.L NY PITT I have ahead of the Canucks . The idea is to win the cup not be a team that falls in between 7 to 15 . If we do fall in that area ,again we are drafting 20 to 25 .
If we are content on being a team ranked in the upper half then we are fine. If our aim is to win a cup we are miles away. |

I predict we win against the injured Avs but lose quite handily against the Hawks Friday |

People are saying that Vancouver will win the division because on paper we look great. Edmonton did beat us and they also beat the team (LA Kings ) that beat us.
Edmonton did lose to CGY but they always do. Anyone not taking the Oilers serious are nuts. They outscore their problems. - VANTEL
Don't be fooled by the early success. It's all PP. Once the officials start getting "loose" again, you'll see a sharp decline in the number of Oilers goals, and as such, wins. However, if this is the year that the refs actually crack down, then there might be something to be concerned with. |

Love to see Daniel get an edge to his game, same with Henrik, pull a Bure and Churla Keith like Keith did to Daniel.
Keith: Hey Daniel, no hard feelings about the concussion, right?
Daniel (with a small smile): Of course, it's all good...
*10 seconds later while Keith digs out the puck and starts to skate...*
Daniel: PSYCHE!!!
*BAM!!!!!!* |

Keep in mind the oilers #1 pp is in mid season form while most others are early season without a regular training camp. Timing and crisp passes are everything |

Probably why it took LA so long to get a power play goal and it took them to get it against the Nucks with one of the worst PK's. Both who as you stated are no where near mid season form and no training camp. |

Veteran teams are going to take longer to get their legs. Teams like Edm, Col, FL a, better make hay now |
