Exactly . You can't have a high end assett sitting on the bench for half the games
- VANTEL

It's not a bad year to have that. With the compressed schedule comes increase of injury and all, not to mention sharing the load. 15 games in 4 weeks down the stretch? That's a lot of hockey before the playoffs.

All our dmen are playing like crap except for tanev
They better step it up before we are well behind a playoff spot especially in a shorten season

- RF_4eva

Basically yes. I thought Bieksa and Hamhuis were a bit better on the Cali trip but still have a way to go. Garrison and Edler have been awful.
Our 2 best players have been Tanev and Kassian, they are both in mid season form as compared to exhibition form

25 other teams have that problem . Do we need a 4 million dollar or 5.3 million dollar insurance policy sitting on the bench?

We played that card last year at TDL when we held on to both and that got us a 5 game exit in the playoffs .

We had great goaltending but no scoring.

We agree on most things but not this one. Lu should have been traded months ago and Schneider should not have to be looking over his shoulder.

There is a reason coaches tell QBs that they are the starters so they can concentrate on sliding into the position.

- VANTEL

Problem is this is not AVs fault. Its Gillis's.

And if we trade one and the other goes down, we're really (frank)ed. Personally, I just don't see a trade out there that Gillis will accept that will make us better, unless you really just want to dump Luongo for a 7th round pick and be done with it.

No if Gillis can only gets a 7 th rounder for Lu, and Schneider can get us a top 6 player.guess which one I am trading.

What if Lundqvist goes down in NY
Crawford Chi
Quick LA
Backstrom Minny
Rinne Boston

We can do this all night.

What if Hank gets injured or Burrows

How many other teams have a 4 Mil + backup?

Well we aren't exactly looking at a great return now are we. If you think we have trouble scoring goals now imagine how bad it's gonna be when we have to overcome a 5 goal deficit because the goalie we don't trade is either exhausted or injured.

I'm just saying, if there is a time to wait for a proper return it is now. Any other season and i'd be on board.

Do you not think Lu can handle 40 games? A back up can play against teams like CBJ CGY COL

I am more concerned about not having secondary scoring and missing the playoffs in a short season

Why? The Leafs don't have any more stud goalie prospects to trade them.

Your forgetting that Schneider hasn't established himself yet. I agree with you concept but its flawed in this particular situation
- Bieksa#3

He's been called the number 1. This situation should be uber sensitive to when the backup goalie starts... and especially to when we pull Schneider. Vigneault is (frank)ing everything up by pulling Schneider in game 1, starting Luongo in game 2... fine Luongo played the other night and played well... but no one in their right (frank)ing mind goes back to Luongo tonight because he played well last game.

Vigneault is (frank)ed in the head, he has no handle on how to coach a game and deal with emotions and adapt to changing momentum. He was out coached in pretty much every series for the past 3 years... yet we managed to get to the 2nd round, finals and 1st and out. If we had someone who could coach we'd have won 3 Cups in a row.

Although gillis has gotten a gem by getting kassian, he shouldve traded lu in the off-season
Lu plays well for a couple of games and all of sudden our starter is playing off the bench? This is too much of a distraction
Another thing mg shouldve done is fire AV
This guy doesnt know how to coach
We get blown out by anahiem and when he gets asked the question what did you say to your team and you say "i leave them be?"
Like cmon!!!
You shouldve handed the team somethin after a lost like that!
I could also go on about the kings game too but this post is getting too long..

This was not an issue when Schneider earned back to back starts over Lou in the past.

I think you may have missed the point of the conversation. I agree that 2 #1 is great it will help us as the back up can play more games. A solid return for one of those 2 goalies helps us every game

There was a former goalie talking about the schedule before the season began. He said the grind was harder on the goalies than anyone else. Just because the other teams goalie's are worn out doesn't mean ours should have to be.

I see it as an advantage.

Not at all, i just see it differently. I still don't see any great return having been offered or Gillis would have been all over it.

I see the same grind for all 30 teams .

If this theory by Gillis works he will be a genius. If it fails he will look like a failure. Canucks are in 8th place so far and will soon be out of the PO picture when teams catch up in games.

I think both goalies are playing in mid season form. We can trade Weise for a top 6 or top 4 D forward and hang on to Schneider and Luongo I guess .
