avoided which question, who's starting tonight? - 1970vintage
Yes the media asked him why is Lu stating . He said it is my choice . They asked him why and he just said Because I said so and then moved on .No explanation and his voice was uncomfortable. |

I agree with most but I believe LU will get the start against the Hawks too. LU has had very good numbers against the Hawks in regular season. - VANTEL
Its a short season, we need to go with the hot hand. Ultimately CS is the number 1 but as long as Lu is playing well, it helps on the trade front and helps the team......Go LU! |

In that case Ballard /Tanev should get close to 30 minutes tonight and Kassian Burrows and Hansen should be our top line..
I just listned to Botchford's assessment of the team written earlier , he said Schneider should get the start tonight he deserves it. He said that before AV came out and said Lu gets the start.

I have said all along that Schneider is not the #1, that neither Gillis nor AV has said flat out that he is. In interviews, media has asked Schneider how he handles the added pressure of being the #1 guy and Schneider has answered as if he is, but the team has not come out and said this. Is this bad for Cory? Maybe. But I think it leaves the door open for Luongo to earn a greater share of the starts this season. I firmly believe that Luongo will not get traded during the season, and that when it is all said and done he will get more than 50% of the starts during the regular season, and whoever is playing best at the end of the year will start the playoffs, with a win and you're in mentality.

That is assuming they make the playoffs . It has been said over and over it is a short season. If your top difference maker is injured 1/3 of the season and your 2 nd best player is on the bench ,then is a fair comment. |

I have no problem either if AV stays true to all the players. Best ones play more.
Honestly I thought Burrows line ( 2 nd unit PP) was much better than the Sedins and deserved the most PP time. |

I think most agree , we don't care which goalie stays but one needs to be moved for ASSETS (not spare parts) I agree with the Chi poster ,Gilis can't get enough for LU so now maybe CS may be odd man out.
Neither goalie will be in playoff shape if you split the games 50/50 |

Agree wholeheartedly!!! There are enough teams with goalie problems that we should capitalize on it now..... |

I agree but the only problem I have is we all know what happens with Lu when the playoffs start. A soft goal or two and it's all over and that can't happen in the playoffs. Lu has been pretty great during the season and stolen a lot of points for this team but when the pressure of the playoffs rolls around I'm not confident in him. Some one has to go though that much I do know and I would trade whoever gets you offense and toughness...I know easier said than done. |

I read yesterday Gillis wants a little more time to assess this team. |

I thought Lu played very well last year in the PO. It doesn't help when a team scores 8 goals in a series.
He owns a lions share of the blame but man that could be said about 75% of this team . Where was Edler last year in the PO .Booth Raymond Weise Manny the line forms to the right. |

Luongo gets blamed, unfairly, for our playoff failures but the truth is, we can't score when it matters...that's on the players and Mike Gillis!!! |

Here is a wild idea Col want to see LU in action and after game Lu for O'Rielly ,Varlamov trade. Col have plenty of cap space. |

All very true so this team needs some balls and toughness along with some offense. Kassian playing through the season may help and he looks great so far. I still think this team needs another tough, offensive scorer which more than likely you would need to trade Cory to get one. I just remember a lot of soft, crazy goals from Lu as well in the playoffs like the ones he was letting up from shot behind the net bouncing off him. He can be great or he can be terrible but maybe he can learn from all this and have that who cares attitude he seems to be displaying now that he was supposedly relegated to back up. Like I said I don't care who goes, but someone needs to and it should be who brings back the better players for the team. |

That's taking it to the extreme again, what he means is that if you have players with similar talent levels that you should give more minutes to the one who's playing better. |

He, besides Giroux might be the most Flyers valuable asset. No reasonable source has ever mentioned his name in trade rumours. |
