On a side note... How (frank)ing awesome was Harti last night??? Hopefully people start believing that these are the kids that have replaced Smyth et al...
- saskoil21

Had a good game. Liked the line of him, Belanger and Prv. Had some chances. Only thing I'd like to see is Harti charge to the net more. Have Prv there already and crash and bang away at the net.

If PVR crashed the net in the 3rd he at the very least would have got an assist.. if not a goal... I just dont know why he is scared to go balls deep and charge the net

I'd say the 4th line -was the 2nd best line next to the top line of ebs et al... Harti MPS and Belanger looked good together... Harti and MPS really generated a board game which created chances and consumed minutes... I was really impressed... Gags played a balls deep game last night- he was hitting and getting chances too... I was nervous when Dubey let in the proverbial 'soft goal' at 3-1 and the avs really turned it up a notch... but credit the team for holding them off... If I were Smyth I would look at mid season retirement... The poor man is just ruining his legacy as he has nothing left in the tank...

For all the ripping Potter has taken I actually agree- he was far superior to Whitney- not just by skating but passing, physicality etc... Good effort and pucks did not fall off of his stick... I am starting to notice and people on twitter pointed out in the Calgary game that Hall for all the good he creates/does - has a fair amount of plays that break off on his touch...

Horc played well, Belanger played well, Smid played well. Smyth didn't hurt us, so really what's the issue with vets?

I did like Whitney with a couple of those end to end passes. He gets that going more and he'll start some chances for us. Other than that he pretty much just has to hope he doesn't get his pocket picked.

Horcoff and Hall seem to have some chemistry together.

Horc seems to get ripped, but he's exactly what we need as a 3rd line center. I'm still for eventually buying him out, but the guy is being a pretty good shutdown center for us and is working well on the PP in front of the net.

I can't believe how slow and ineffective Ryan Smyth has become.

He never was fast to begin with. I don't know what they really do with him to be honest. Does he become a 4th liner? Because honestly even that is a stretch with how Petrell has played.

Quit jumping on the Ganger hate wagon. Kid is proven.
- NEEDSMORHORCOFF[/quote

He's not jumping on the wagon, he is just saying out of ebs, hall, nuge, yak, gags and hemsky, who do you think would have to go if you want to replace two of them? I think you could get a decent value in hemsky and gagner. Maybe just replace hemsky and make sure there's good size on the third line?
Whatever you do, you can't have a top 6 with 5 small players and 1 decent sized. They don't have to be stars, just someone who can win battles and have a decent pair of hands to finish in front of the net. Anyone of those ufa's that guy mentioned would be very helpful.

Horcoff plays well anytime he does not have the puck other than faceoffs- still not sure about the whole 1st PP... against a good team we will see that as a liability... Belanger did play well with better linemates... Smid I dont categorize with the Smyth Horcoff group as he gives his all - every game... Smyth played 13:16 which was even a tad too much for ice time IMO...

Ride this season out and hand him his gold watch at the end. If we acquire a better option before then, pressbox. Smytty is done.

Put Hall-RNH-Eberle against the other team's best line and see what he does. Horc may look like a liability against a good team, but I hate to see one of the kids trying to shut down a good teams #1 line
