Simon Despres skating with Letang in the defensive pairings for skate rushes

Looks like top 4 minutes for Despres... hope he plays well.

Don't forget the cap will be going down next year.

Beyond that, the last thing this team needs is an enigmatic player....even one that regularly pots 30 goals or more.

Kessel isnt perfect but I think a lot of his criticism stems from being on the wrong end of a perceived blundered trade for Toronto. They needed him to be a 50+ goal guy to justify what they gave up in hindsight, he isnt that guy in Toronto.

The guy has gotten the Iginla treatment so far in his young career, no legit center yet still scores goals. I like his skill set to be honest. His cap hit is fair and comparable to James Neal. I have no doubt with a good center he would score 40-50 goals on a regular basis.

His style of play would fit well with Crosby. It would be a scary offense with 4 guys who can put up 40+ goals in your top 6.

yea, but considering what they gave up for him, Im assuming Toronto would want much of that back. It may be more realistic to pry ryan out of anaheim than it would be for Kessel to leave Toronto.

I think 2 things make Kessel attractive to play with a guy like Crosby:

1. He isnt afraid to shoot and he will have plenty of opportunities to do so. His snap shot is one of the best in the league.

2. He has blazing speed and can keep up with Sid.

Havent really given a thought to the logistics of any kind of potential trade, dont think I am going to, I am just talking about them as hockey players in this hypothetical situation.

You gotta wonder what Toronto would want for Kessel... They could either want the moon to "make up" for the original trade, or they could be more flexible to give Nonis a chance to turn the page and move on from a perceived Burke mess.

I wouldn't mind him here, and while he'd be a UFA, I would think it would be relatively easy to resign him. You wouldn't think he'd want to go back to a big media market, or somewhere that he is "The Guy" coming in as a free agent. He seems like a guy who doesn't want all the attention, and he'd have that cover here.

I was thinking that exact same thing. The question is, if your Shero, would you be willing to part with 1 or 2 of our top prospects, and possibly 1 or 2 first round picks for a top tier, young winger for Sid? Toronto would be best suited to go into rebuild mode, and getting young, high touted prospects and 1st round picks would be appealing.

Well they can offer 8. But moreso in the here's our best offer for what we can do. If you dont take it we're going to move you.

I imagine a first and a prospect to begin with for Kessel something else as we'll. depends on what Sheros5 yr plan is. Not sure if kunitz, dupuis, Cooke, Adams and orpik will be back or not. Some not all. If shero s gonna draft dmen,a forward for Sid should be a priority. Hossa would have been ideal with his defensive play and skill set.

i just cant see geno taking over 10 mil. But to be honest if he asks for anything over 10 mil/year, I may be a little disappointed in him

Kessel would be great. Unfortunately I dont see us trading for another long term high cap hit until Malkin and Letang's situations are resolved.
