Varsity Blues over Friday Night Lights? I guess Ali Larter in a whipped cream bathing suit was the deciding factor?

Who possibly could be? Who could possibly think that a change could make this team any less inspiring. It's ludicrous he still has a job after last season

It looks like the typical seasonal sabre swoon is well under way.
And the typical offensive inconsistency is alive and well. Does anyone wonder why almost all the forwards are inconsistent on this team? The typical seasonal hallmarks of a Ruff coached team is continuing. And how funny is it we get an owner willing to pay but he is to in love with the coach and front office. It's a cruel joke! Do they have a weekly pinochle night?

They have an owner willing to pay, but also an owner who has supposedly never fired anybody in his career. It's a double-edge sword.

so should we keep the young talent we have and wait for it to develop naturally or should we trade our young pieces for older parts completely and go into "win now but F the future mode?"

imo upgrading stafford to perry, or ryan or somebody of that caliber is all we should do with the fowards and we need to wait the 1-3 years for all of our young guys to hit their potential. the defense is another story entirely...

sabres: young 20 somthings that are offensively frustrated.

sabres hockeybuzzers: 30-50 somethings that are sexually frustrated and talk about the beer they drink a lot.

Yeah he is willing to pay, but there is a relatively level playing field due to the salary cap. Its not semi-pro auto racing where you can make up for what you lack by out spending everyone else 4-1. You have to be crafty while you spend. Which right now the Sabres are not. What Terry has bought us a fan experience at the arena and on TV that is second to none. That of course minus the on ice product itself.

Look at the league since the Salary cap was insituted after the 04' lockout. Superstar players gravitated towards the bigger cities that happen to be bigger hockey markets.

edit: What can we offer a superstar player that other teams cant. Since the money will be roughly in the same ballpark? Until we have a serious winning culture, nothing.

Catch 22 - Can't attract top tier tallent because we don't have a winning culture. Don't have a winning culture because we cant attract top tier talent.

Homer, what are your personal thoughts on what they should do?

Mine is keep him. He's not taking the place of anyone else that would do any better. Plus Jr's, he's out grown Jr's.

It's beyond ludicrous. Last year they had six losing streaks of 3+ games. They have won four playoff series in the past 10 years. There is not another organization in the league where Ruff would still be the coach with those results.

I don't think coaching is as important as it is in the NFL, but it is important. This team needs a new dynamic, a new voice. Needed it 5-6 years ago.

Jeez, thats thought to swallow. Were five games in and they already have 1. I wonder what the stats are for cup winning teams as far as 3 game + losing streaks in a season.
