You guys should start to try to build through the draft....

You wish you built through the draft. Look at what Boston has done through the draft.

Niedermayer, Seguin, Hamilton, Loungo all were original Leaf picks.

Anymore????

Agree with most yer stuff as usual.

Couple differenes tho.

Gagner. Has been the worst forward on the ice for defensive positioning in the young season. Watch him away from the puck and cringe. Making up for it in a big way on the score sheet. But as a center he needs to be like Nuge. Quicker on the back check and staying with his man. Not floating like he has been.

Hemsky. This guy will have to put up a 1.5 ppg pace to silence his critics. He is the Hemsky of old. The good one. He is a winger not a center. He is allowed to float a bit. I find his style frustrating to watch when it doesn't work but more often than not his style works. Depth scoring and veteran leadership is exactly what we need from him and what will get from him all year long.

Jones. I know you have talked %^&* about Jones many times and I have no idea why. Great PKer and a goal scorers touch. He is exactly what we are missing right now. So far there has not been a goal scored from someone not on the top 2 lines yet.

We have a lot of holes to fill and nothing to fill them with yet. For this team to start winning we need a lot of good depth talent to start making it's way into our roster.

And right now I think Dub has been far more bad than good. His comments after the recent loss are disgusting. He let in 2 incredibly weak goals and the loss is completly on him... and he blames the D in front of him. Feeble.

galchenyuk will win the calder the guy is so slick!

Nice write up clouts. I stand by what ive said in the past, if the oil fail this year, go hard after backstrom as your goalie. confidence is fortified from the back end up. at 34 he could have some solid years with edm and give duby or roy soem good sheltering as they develop. add a few puck moving d to accompany schultz ( the better one) on the pp and on 5v5. Streit would be great, he can fire it from the point and would help calm the young d down. Some peep sdidnt like my choice of vet d in temonen so ill swap that with hamerlik. Laugh if you want, but hamerlik is a great vet that could play wit the 3rd pairing and help shut down the other teams first line. at 38 he could probably be had for a good price. Its all about a good melange, you have the right pieces in young talent, just a fail enforcer and vet talent. the oils 3rd and 4th line a pretty weak...

pcking up some guys that will help ppick up points on the back end will push the oilers intobeing real contenders. habs have 14 points from their d this year. takes a poop ton of pressure of the forwards, keeps them focused on playing and making the right plays. m ight not always go in, but the back end is helping the team succeed as well!

Tarasenko is facing low grade competition and killing it. Schultz is facing top grade competition and killing it as a rookie defensiveman and leads the Oilers in ice time. So far I say Schultz is doing better. The blues have the rediculous depth to allow Tarasenko to face the soft parade, which is nice to pad his stats with.

Lol homer much? Have you seen every shift Tarasenko has played and noted the opposition? Hitchcok is the coach that would makee sure a rookie plays the teams system or else they don't get playing time. Also, with the depth Stl has I bet he gets a third the pp time schultz gets.
I would say schultz has still been a bit more impressive the fact he has put up the points he has as a rookie dman, but not for the reasons you listed. Both are doing great though schultz is more dominating on the pp as his 5v5 leaves much to be desired, as suspected with a rookie dman.
