They avg more time in the box than on the ice, does that actually fill a purpose in the NHL these days?

I am likely to say yes to any available forward with a pulse, given my concern about the team's depth, but I actually think he would be a great option for the Rangers. However, he is a good enough player that he will have some value to teams, so the price may be too much. Don't think the Rangers get Stephen Weiss for a 3rd round pick.

I like the idea of picking up another center both from a depth perspective, and to make sure that the guys on the roster stay on their toes.

He is a second line center, as long as comfortable with moving Stepan to wing or third line C, then yes. If not, it's a move that could backfire.

Ideally, I would like to see Torts roll three lines with confidence. If gets to the point where he can throw a second and third line together that are pretty much interchangeable, there won't likely be too much of a difference between the time that a second and third line center gets. Boyle would get the short end of the stick moving to the fourth line, but even then, he would still get plenty of time on the PK and could move up and down the lineup as necessary. Hell, I am even comfortable playing Stepan on the wing, where he has played fine in the past.

The team needs depth, so IMO, they need to explore all available options, especially if they can find guys like Weiss who are good players with some versatility.

And, god forbid if Richards or Stepan were to get hurt. The Rangers aren't particularly deep at center, and I have heard a number of the NHL talking heads express that concern.

It's time to get on a little roll. I think the Rangers are a better team overall, time to make a little statement.
