I agree Joe. It's as if the team said we got 2 points last night, we will just mail it in tonight. Can't afford that type of mentality, especially in a shortened season.

It's 6 games in 9 days, but every team is in the same boat..

Hate missing the playoffs not saying that's happening but giving away points like this ain't helping. What I watched on that ice tonight is what pisses me off royally: lack of desire, personified in lousy effort. I can suck up a loss as long as the team puts in an effort. Not tonight. That was a disgrace.

I don't know if it was dead legs or simply mailing it in after a shaky goal or after not managing a tally on that 4 minute PP.

The level of frustration has me hoping it's the former. You don't see guys as pissed as Simmonds was who don't care. But it's still troubling

I don't agree with that whatsoever. This wasn't a case of the team just deciding to not show up. You saw it with the Rangers during the week. This was not due to a mentality. It was an energy issue.
- MJL

The Rangers played a war the night before with the Bruins, and lost a 2-1 game to a desperate Flyers team who were playing to avoid an 0-4 start. Situations were extremely different.

And in your previous post where you said the special teams were awful, you left out Leighton was awful.

I think on a back to back situation on the road, a split this weekend isn't a bad thing.
- MJL

Especially against a quality team playing well. The Flyers played two quality games prior and honestly with their backs against the wall(0-3) they played their butts off. didn't look good tonight, but rest up and get ready for the Rangers.

Heavy legs get much heavier when things aren't going well.

I can accept a loss, as Joe said, if the effort is there and you get beat you tip your cap. Lack of effort bothers me.

Here's the thing, this isn't going to change. This is going to be a season that its going to be like that, back to back, 3 games 4 days, 5 games 8 days. I don't even think it will change that much in the playoffs either. If you're gonna be that team, that can't be something you say we're tired we will get it next time.
- GirouxForTheShow

The hopeful thing, if there is one, is that if it was dead legs, it's understandable because of the short camp and excess number of games. A lot of teams are having similar ups and downs to the Flyers.

But coming off the previous two efforts, it's a bad letdown to see tonight's level of compete.

My post wasn't an all encompassing summation of everything about the game. Leighton didn't get much help. I'm not going to scapegoat any one player. If I was, it wouldn't be Leighton, the backup Goalie. There would be plenty of other players ahead of him on the list from this game.
Back to back and 6 in 9 is what it is. To dismiss it as a factor is not being realistic. It was obvious that the team did not have much in the tank.

They absolutely do. Hoping it was just one of those bumps and that they use it as motivation on Tuesday

the forfeiture clause in his contract kicks in for the whole team, every time he plays...

I'm hoping it was dead legs, and if so I blame conditioning. Time for some herb brooks suicides after games. I have to look around the league if this is common for teams on back to backs fine but its time this team overcomes this obstacle.

Ya know with our luck Bryz would have pulled a groin trying to keep these guys in this game so as for him not playing tonight I'm grateful.

Ugh.
Not much to say.
Missed Bryz, but even he wouldn't have saved them tonight.
The Flyers talent level is just not good enough to win against a good team without a total 60 min effort.

I guess they made the right decision with Laughton, but he gave them some energy when he was playing.

Maybe getting Rinaldo back will replace some of that.

You're absolutely right it's just the fact that almost every time they have a back to back they come out like crack whores after a bachelor party in a frat house. Its aggravating.

6 games played, or 1/8 of the season and the Flyers have scored two goals or less in 5 of the 6 games. Big concern.

Team also is operating at a 65% PK, and a 12% PP. Still fairly small sample sizes, but extremely alarming trends for sure.

This hasn't been a good start to the season in any way, shape or form. Especially losing a top line winger and top 4 d-man long term in the first week of the season.

Ilya Bryzgalov has played tremendous in goal, that is a very good sign. He looks relaxed and confident. Also, Luke Schenn has played well and that is nice to see.

Before everyone knows it, the season will be half over. Flyers have to put some consistent play together sooner than later.

Can't really argue with this. I suppose they are kinda screwed with this power play cuz they can't really practice. I do believe in the value of practice despite what Mr. Iverson says.

They have some work to do no doubt. But I still like this team, and still think they'll be a playoff team. Tuesday will be a good measuring stick.

A bit worried about Giroux

Our best player along with Simmer and Bryz since the season started but he isn't performing like last year; taking games over, burning Dman with his speed, passing like a blind magician. Six games in and I still didn't notice that much of a progression in his play since the opener.

0 hits, 0 shots tonight, his speed and precision are off. I hope it's only rust or the lack of chemistry with linemates.....the condensed schedule doesnt help either.

He's one of many players that have to be much better.
