Washington you figure could get a hell of a package for OV. It isn't working with him there, perhaps they would be better off trading him and building that way.

Couts and Schenn?

you left out elite combo of size, speed power, but that's ok

Looks like Doan got in one clean blow. Not as bad as what I had heard.

Check out the two fights from Laughs/Rags last night. Brown pummels Asham, then Orr takes Rupp to the woodshed.

- PLindbergh31

wonder how many players besides asham have played for every single team in a division during their career

Would be a huge mistake to not send the kid down. He won't get the regular minutes here this season between third and fourth lines. Let him center the first line back home and develop.

Biggest question: Can the Flyers even afford P.K. without trading/waiving someone? (50 man limited reached AND not even a 1M in cap space)

- Glak18

They would have to create a contract spot. And they have the Cap space. But I would not commit to Subban for a 7 year deal for north of 5M.

I'm curious to watch us play against Matt Carle.. i liked him as a Flyer and was sad to see him go.. but playing against him maybe we will be able to see if the nay sayers were right or wrong about him

Develop how? He has proven so far he can play at this level. Getting 8-10 minutes a night against superior competition, learning how things are done at this level, the travel, the preparation, the way of life...all outweighs him going back to juniors to pay against inferior competition.

how many games left for jr teams? less than 30? still 43 left in nhl. so minutes could come close to evening out if he plays all of them. obviously he'll have a lesser role, but going up against pros could also be valuable.

tough call, either way, imo

Agreed. Tons of talent and potential there. But the word elite should not be used to describe Subban at this point.

I agree totally with that. My only possible issue is, is he going to continue to get those minutes.

On top of that what's to say he can't take the things he's learned so far back to juniors continue them while working on the part of his game that needs the most work which is his offense.

Then come in to next years camp even better and more able to contribute in all phases maybe even adding the PK to it.

It can work both ways from keeping him to sending him back.

Lavi gets minutes for everyone that plays how they're supposed to and isnt a total goon. I'm not worried about that at all. Add in the shortened season, some of the vets are going to need maintenance days at some point...

I don't know if a 3rd year in Juniors is going to make that big of a difference in his level of offense in the NHL in the future. I think that is going to take significant time, for that to come. Because of his age. And that development is going to happen in the NHL if at all.

I agree, if I am WAS I look for what he is worth on the market very quietly. Not because of him but because of what he could bring back and that team isn't winning it all anytime soon.

IF he continues to get those minutes.

I send him back. He'd be playing 18-20 a night, in a second line role, getting tons of PP & PK time and in more of a scoring role.

When does an NHL team give a regular in the lineup a game off for maintenance? If you're healthy, you play. When the Flyers are healthy, there are 8 Forward spots that are locks in the lineup. That leaves 4 Forward spots open between Talbot, Fedetenko, Knuble, Laughton, McGinn, Wellwood, Shelley, Sestito, and Rinaldo. And with Talbot and Fedetenko being regulars on the PK. Even less spots and less ice time up for grabs.

PROS
- Great skater
- Needed youth on defense
- Tons of "potential"

CONS
- HIGH cap hit
- Long term commitment
- POSSIBLE bad influence in locker room (just rumors right now)
- Would he even be worth 3 draft picks?

Biggest question: Can the Flyers even afford P.K. without trading/waiving someone? (50 man limited reached AND not even a 1M in cap space)

- Glak18

The Flyers didn't put Pronger on LTIR yet (4.921M). So the cap space shouldn't be a problem THIS season. The 50 contract maximum issue could be resolved by trading a minor league player for a late draft pick I think.

I personally believe Subban will be worth 5M in a few years. The contract-offer sheet should also NOT include a NMC or NTC just in case he doesn't live up to his potential or if he becomes a bad influence in the locker room.

The biggest issue in my opinion is future cap space once G, Couts and Schenner are up for new contracts.

With Prongs on LTIR and Kimmo off the books after this season, that's 11M right there. So it might be feasible long term.

Well there "superstar" has gone limp.

And, that's not fair to their fan base. They also like seeing a team that wins.

Cap space isn't an issue with Subban, as long as the offer is under 7.3M. And Movement clauses are never included in an Offer Sheet. I just don't think unless you drastically overpay in the offer sheet. It's worth the time. If you want the player, best way is to work out a trade.
