Two good defenses granted....but for what this franchise gave up for Weber...he had better learn how to "find some space". - PoileRulezzzYo

I'm gonna blame everything on Suter this year & just accept this year is a rebuilding year. The Preds are built for a 2nd round play off slug fest with the Sharks or Canucks. Right now all of the teams are set up for a sprint & the Preds are set up for the marathon! The season could be done before they make any head way. It shall be interesting. |

Not to mention an ass load of picks. Not that anyone should be excited about getting draft picks.
That salary is going to hurt if he doesn't produce on a consistent basis. |

Basically the same thing a friend and I discussed earlier today. He had very low expectations going in.
I'm glad it's a short (calendar-wise) season so that so that the losing pain doesn't make it longer than would otherwise be the case. Maybe the guys gel and start winning, making the bad start a distant memory. It's possible but not probable based on the play to date. Too many shortcomings to overcome I think and insufficient time.
For those who have correctly said that mgmnt/owners/etc expected great things this season, I doubt many teams would publicly state differently. However, who knows, maybe they actually believed what they were saying. |

Consistency is not a word associated with any aspect of the Preds so far. (Well, except for finding ways to play badly and not win.) |

I just hope that if they are going to be bad...just tank it. Don't stick around until April and then blow it in the last week. |

I'd rather they be competitive as long as they can. That, at least, won't make them an afterthought this season and it gives them something to build off of next season.
Remember also that it doesn't matter where you finish out of the playoffs anymore. The 9th place team will have a shot at the #1 pick just like the last place team due to the new CBA.

I just noticed my mistake, it's Nail not Yail. BTW, He got the game winner again last night. I have a feeling the Oilers will not be in the lottery draft this year. |

Does DP take a look at Zack Boychuk? Carolina put him on waivers. Offer sheet to Ryan O'reilly? Something to ponder about. |

We are already at 49 contracts. If we bring on one of those guys off waivers (no one going the other way), we have hit our max of 50 for the season. Sure we can get some room back, but only by getting RID of contracts.
We need to try and waive a player or two. We need the room to bring in some options.
This fact makes the Clune signing all the more unbearable. |

Clune days have to be numbered. I would rather have Winchester on the ice than Clune. |

Yes...or B.J. Crombeen (I think he is avaliable). Winchester or BJ - 2 bigger guys that can skate and throw 10 goals in with 100+ PIM. Something Clune (or Tootoo) has never done.
Can we set our expectations a little higher and demand them from the owners/GM/Coaches? I was committed through the lockout to the team. Now I expect the same from them. |

What about Huselius? Any takers on him? Sykora would be nice but would have to clear waivers if someone tried to bring him back to the NHL and Nashville would more than likely miss out.
Huselius used to be a beast until his injury. Is he just made of too much glass for us to consider? He definitely has scoring upside although age is a factor (but apparently not when you see Whitney and Jagr doing just fine).

Can't remember who coined the phrase, maybe Forechecker, but someone said the Preds have a Logan's Run approach to the roster. Once you turn a certain age, you're out. With the exception of Martin Gelinas, that's pretty much been true. |

Ha...that's funny. What a great excuse for Poile not going after talent like Jagr and Whitney...way to go DP...yet younger useless talent such as McGrattan and Clune stay put on our roster. Makes sense to me. |

I thought he had a career ending injury last year and might have been against the preds. |
