Vej, are you going to the game tonight?
Lots of empty seats at the last Panthers game.

I doubt Leighton will play tonight.
But maybe he will play Sunday?

they sold alot of those 7.00 tickets...I think they have more fans at the games than in recent years

It's a question of were they have determined Laughton can develop faster. In the NHl or by going back down. I see value handling it either way. Ideally he would go back down to save a year, but I guess we'll find out tonight.

laughton is not couturier. he needs to develop his offensive game and get stronger. his skating could use work as well. he's a good prospect as a solid third line center, but he needs more time and we don't need to burn another ELC where we're gonna end up losing some of these guys prematurely.
- isaiah520

I agree that Laughton is not Couturier. Couturier as a very young player, was matched up against top lines, and played a top role on the PK. Laughton isn't going to do that. But as far as offense is concerned, both players need to develop their offensive game. I don't see any signs of Laughton lacking the physical abilities to play at this level. Nor do I see a weakness in his skating, that would keep him from playing at this level right now. If either of those two factors were the case, he never would have made the team. And he'd already be back in Juniors. I think the ELC issue is a legitimate concern. But I think the players play overrides that. I don't see it being a definite that they're going to end up losing any of these players prematurely. I think there are more reasons to keep him, then to send him down. I think the experience he can get up here will be extremely valuable. And with it only being a 48 game season, I think it can be better for his development then another year in Juniors. I think it's a reasonable argument to send him back. But I would keep him.

Matt Read and Jake Voracek are the only players with value that I would move to upgrade anywhere. I would also consider any of our draft picks that isn't a first and Scott Laughton. I know it sounds crazy to give up on Laughton so soon but we are so strong at center. I am most interested in getting a scoring winger or upgrading at D. Plus I would look to this summer to freeing up reasonable cap space. Losing Shelley, Lilja, Knuble, Fedetanko, Foster, Timonen and two buyouts to be named later should help a great deal. I think we need an untouchable core.

The flyers should target who they want right now.

Flyers are looking at 6-7M in Cap space next Season right now. Who knows if they'll even use the buyouts.

Well, I fully expect them to kick the tires on Corey Perry if he makes it to free agency

So would I. The real problem is that there really isn't the type of defenseman they need available in Free Agency next year.

From the twitter world
Briere was a full participant in today's practice but is a no go for tonight.
Bryz starting tonight.
Schenn centered a line with Knuble and Fedetenko.

Anyone know what # Knuble will wear?

I don't see Knuble taking back 22 from L. Schenn. He's not that type of guy.

If they get Perry signed, I could see them trading some of the depth up front for a D-man possibly Read or Voracek, or maybe both in some sort of a package deal depending on who it is for. There are some rumors that the Yotes are looking to trade Yandle, if its true I'm guessing the Flyers will be all over that.

I think Yandle would certainly help offensively, but I don't view him as a #1 and a replacement for Timonen. Just a slight upgrade to replace the loss of Carle. But they could build a defense by committee, instead of having 1 or 2 players that eat up big minutes in all situations. I don't know what it would cost to get Yandle.

The first game this year I was watching #21 for the Flyers and for a second thought
Wow, JVR really learned how to hit this summer.

I think Yandle's a solid #2 guy but If you can get him without trading a whole lot I say go for it.

The problem with Yandle is what the Yotes were rumored to want in return for him. They are valuing him as a number one guy and expect to get a ton back.

Lots of teams in the same boat as the Flyers on D and the sellers know it.
Detroit is in worse shape on D then Philly right now.

Looking at next year's FA class like Getzlaf or Perry etc just depends on where these guys want to play. Look at the last few prized agents like Paries, Suter, Brad Richards these guys all knew who they wanted to play for. Teams dont stand a chance when that stuff happens.. Im sure the Flyers will make a run as they did with Parise and Suter. Same is said for college FA's. I dont think cap space will be a problem next season, pretty sure Briere will be bought out and that frees up a nice chunk. Could see Timo getting bought out to of Flyers can land a solid D man or two.

Timonen is a UFA after this Season. I'm not as sure about Briere being brought out.

Timonen is a free agent in July, no need to buy him out...he's the cream of the UFA crop this summer...very slim pickings on D in free agency

I got the chance to see a game in sunrise in 05. The Flyers won 3-2 with Zeus scoring in a SO. It seemed that there were more of us Flyers fans present than Panthers fans... LOL
