I agree that there is a big need for a puck moving defenseman. And I'm not a fan of Subban, but I would still like to get him as a player. But a 2 way Center that can score and has Selke potential is just as hard to get, and just as important. I'd prefer if they trade for him, that they don't trade Couturier.

That could easily be Laughton too. To me, there is as much of a chance that Coots is a John Madden type. Maybe he can put up 60-70 Pts or maybe only 40-50 points.

I see Laughton and Couturier both more as 3rd line shutdown centers and would prefer a 2nd line center who was more of a scoring threat, makes other players better, etc.

I know that is an unpopular opinion here but I would trade him for the right dman.

if they wouldn't do it for weber, it's not going to happen with subban.
- flyers420

Nobody knows exactly what was offered for Weber. Most seem to think it was Couturier + B. Schenn and two 1st rounders from what I've seen.

I will bet he was not. Couts is francophone and that is something Montreal is desperately looking for, a Franco with top line potential.

I think there is a clear and distinct difference in potential between Laughton and Couturier. I don't see Laughton as a Selke level player, nor does he have the offensive ability of Couturier. I think Couturier is a top line 2 way player in the future. I would trade Couturier for the right defenseman also. But for that were talking closer to Drew Doughty then PK Subban.

I doubt they offered that much and thought they could force their hand.

The Flyers host the draft in 2014, let's keep that in mind when thinking they'll move that 1st round pick.

Anybody else wonder how we could have fit Weber under the cap? What do we have like 12K under the cap right now lol. Weber's hit is almost 8 mil even with Pronger LTIR'd that would have left us 3 mil over.

They would have amnestied someone's contract.

That wouldnt have worked, can only amnesty after this season without penalty. NYR and MTL still have the cap hits for Gomez and Redden but salary comes off after the season.

Not to say Couturier alone would net you Drew Doughty. but that's the kind of acquisition I'm be more inclined to use Couturier for.

I think the c$!t is a complete punk and I can't stand him, but I think Cory Perry would do a ton of damage as Gs winger

I don't think it would either. I just used Doughty as an example of what kind of player I would trade Couturier for. Subban isn't established and proven enough for me to include Couturier. One could argue that Subban is more proven then Couturier, and they would be correct. And with it being such a need, they would do that. And that would be reasonable thought. I just wouldn't do it. I like what I see with Couturier too much.

To go into it any further would require pure speculation. Who knows what the Flyers would have done.

In my opinion there is no way you throw that kind of money at Subban. He is no where near established enough as a player to make that kind of commitment to him.
- MJL

Your right, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Our D is old and slow and we have no QB for the PP that can actually SHOOT the

puck.

You think Kimmo is worth a 6.3333M cap hit... The answer is obviously no.

Would much rather have Subban at 6.333M per than Kimmo. Subban still hasn't

peaked and more importantly, MTL wouldn't likely match the offer sheet since the

reported offer (Dreger TSN) for Subban was 5M for 2 years by MTL.

Doug MacLean: "I confirm that the #Flyers have made an offer for PK Subban that includes Sean Couturier."

The offer includes Carrie Price and Subban for Couts and Bryz.

Seems pretty good.
