THE SOURCE DOESN'T LOOK CREDIBLE THOUGH .... JUST THOUGHT I'D POST IT ANYWAY ....

HOPE WE GET SUBBAN BUT DON'T WANT TO LOSE COUTS.

MAYBE LAUGHTON PLUS 2 1st ROUND PICKS WOULD MAKE IT HAPPEN

- Chris48

I like that better than Couts, but in reality we need Subban even more that Couts if you look at it positionally. Subban will make all the forward better, an elite puck moving dman that plays half a game at high speed.

Thank you! Finally someone sees the light.

If buying out Briere allows the team to make a run at a guy like Perry/Getzlaf them I'd be all for it.

If they arent re-signed that is.

There is a buyout period in the off season. You just can't buy him out any time you want. There are rules involved. Same as you can't re-sign a player you buy out for one season.
- MJL

So then when is it? Before free agency I assume? Either way you have a chance at Perry you go for it imo.

I agree that there is a big need for a puck moving defenseman. And I'm not a fan of Subban, but I would still like to get him as a player. But a 2 way Center that can score and has Selke potential is just as hard to get, and just as important. I'd prefer if they trade for him, that they don't trade Couturier.

You have a chance. That's my whole point. This past off season they had a chance for Weber, Suter, Parise, etc. They didn't get any of them. All I'm saying is that there isn't a guarantee there. So you may wind up buying out Briere, and then having no replacement for him.

Everyone is getting sick yet somehow I've managed to avoid it. All those years of crushing potato bugs with my fingers must have boosted my immune system.

Begrudingly, I would include Brayden Schenn (I wouldn't want any other top 9 forward involved) in a deal for Subban. Long-term the center position is still pretty strong - 1. G 2. Coots 3. Laughton

Just for fun.

Clowe, Zeus and Morrow would be targets for me next off-season. In terms of offense.

If the team is unable to get a guy like Perry.

AGREED!!!!! A SPEEDY PUCK MOVING D THAT CAN ACTUALLY SHOOT ON THE PP AND PLAY 25MIN A GAME WOULD HELP PHILLY TREMENDOUSLY.

IF LAUGHTON + TWO 1st ROUND PICKS WON'T MAKE THE TRADE HAPPEN, HOMER CAN ALWAYS OFFER SHEET SUBBAN KIMMO MONEY SINCE IT'S HIS LAST CONTRACT YEAR.

6.333 X 7 YEARS

I KNOW THAT'S OVERPAID BUT AT 23 YEARS OLD HE'S ONLY GONNA GET BETTER AND PROBABLY PEAK AROUND 27-28 AS DMAN USUALLY DO.

Clowe is a nice player, but not a player I would sign to a big UFA deal. We'll see what Morrow has left this year. If Zeus is Michael Handzus. No interest whatsoever. You wouldn't get much offense from him.

In my opinion there is no way you throw that kind of money at Subban. He is no where near established enough as a player to make that kind of commitment to him.

I will bet he was not. Couts is francophone and that is something Montreal is desperately looking for, a Franco with top line potential.
