[quote=Maxbone]As I explained, the Oilers would have one of the deepest D's with the addition of Bouwmeester.
Schultz - Schultz
Smid - Petry
Fistric - JayBo
Three puck-movers. Three defensive-defensemen. Players on all three lines that can play special teams. Size, experience, talent.
Add this group to the Oilers incredible Top 6 and you have a cup run]
Wow, well get it done !! IMO putting Shultz up as your top paired Dman just goes to show the lack of depth the team has. He's a top 4 ATM on a pretty poor D unit. I clearly can't change your opinion in the remaining battery on my phone.
Drop the JBo, draft Jones and trade MSP+2nd+ for PK . Re do your lines and then we'll talk about depth. - 93Matty
Who is MSP? Magnus Paajarvi Svensson is probably who you are thinking and a 2nd for Pernell Karl "P. K." Subban?? I don't think MPS and a 2nd will get that done. I think maybe RNH, Hall, Eberle, Yakapov, or Schultz. Not a 3rd line checking winger and a fourty something position draft pick. Unless of course Mike Milbury is now running Montreal? |

Paajarvi AND a 2nd for Subban? That's more then fair.
This is PK Subban, not Alex Pietrangelo. Idk why everyone thinks he's this budding Norris Trophy candidate. He's a good young dman, no doubt. But some of the offers I've seen for him are insane. Couldn't be more obvious half the people on this website haven't really seen him play. The 5-6 million dollar tags associate with his name is even more hilarious.
And to the genius' arguing "Schultz vs. Gardiner", your all (frank)ing lame. Lets sit there and argue who's a better NHL player: The guy who's played 1 season vs. The guy who's played 5 games.
News flash Richardfaces: Their not comparable. Bring it up again when both guys have played 300 games, 150 at the absolute least. (frank)ing Christ. I know every fan-base loves hypin up young players, but seriously. These are ROOKIE NHL DEFENSMEN. The same players you all say "need time to properly develop and adjust to the NHL". How about we be patient and let them do so? Maybe? Yes? |

I personally think if TOR tanks it this year and completely blow it up in the trade deadline and summer, start with buying out Komisarek and Conolly. Cross fingers to sign Getzlaf and Perry, bring in Luongo from VAN, draft high, fully Gardiner and Reilly comes around next season...things can look great in TOR. JVR and Kessel can probably even still stick around. Cap might be tight. |

As an oiler fan I'd just let the flames flounder. Why help them out it won't happen but imagine iggy pulling a sundin and leaves Calgary for Edmonton is the offseason it will never happen but it would be hilarious. |

Current line combinations on Oilers website have not changed yet from last game. Don't think they will update till later in the day(afternoonish). If you want my guess? I would say they both play tonight and Hordi takes Harti's spot. Rest stays same. |

I really hope krueger learned something in the last minute against LA. I can't stand watching Horcoff lose draws on PP and wasting 20 seconds going back in our own end to pick up the puck. |

People who thing Paajarvi + 2nd can bring PK Subban to Edm don't know what they are talking about.
http://www.habseyesonthep...s-habs-montreal-canadiens
PK played the entire 2011-12 season agains top line. 12pts in 21 playoff games. He hit like a train, look at his body check highlights. He played an average of 24:18.
Paajarvi... get serious.

No, he didnt play the "entire season against top lines". If he was everything your saying he is, the Canadiens would be offering him a long term deal at roughly 5 mill, not the 2 years at a roughly 2.5 per AAV that's been on the table since last year.
He's not, at this time, a player you can consider a cornerstone defender. Period. Saying he played 25 minutes a game means nothing on a lottery team. If anything, it means he was probably used to much.
If he wasn't a RFA, maybe Paajarvi and a 1st. Paajarvi and a 2nd is more then fair when I can just offer sheet him for the 3-5 years he wants at like 4 mill plus. Then you either match it or take my offer. The end.
Your not getting an insane haul for PK unless its a desperate team with the pieces to spare. Period. |

Ya I kind of have to believe you and not the fan of a defunct NHL franchise's opinion. Though I hate PK Subban's cocky attitude and the many unflattering stories I have read about him... He would definitely be top 2 on the Oilers for a lot of years. MPS and a song for him? Ya ok. Where is Mad Mike Milbury when you need him? |

[quote=spitfire187]Shultz is better. End of story. Sorry bro]
You've won me over, great point. Fantastic mind control you have, or is it brain control.
Jake>Shultz till he has a comparable year in the NHL. Till the. Keep dreaming and tanking. - 93Matty
So by that logic Hordichuk>Yakupov? You have got to be kidding me. Are leafs fans even real people? |
|
|
|
Would I trade Shultz for Jake ? As an Oiler fan no because he fits into the shiny new toy concept that you continually sell.
Would I trade Jake for Shultz, at this point it's too close to a wash. We know what we have in Jake, Shultz is still a question mark. However the concussion Jake had might push me into accepting a trade.
They're very similar players, both far better offensively then playing defence. Shultz in his own zone looks so lost and scared. - 93Matty
Now I know you haven't seen an Oiler's game. |
