Actually I think it's Hartley, albeit Feaster is letting him do it.

Sure is frustrating....especially knowing what I'm walking into tomorrow night when I head to the Dome. We need this win more than ever.

Anyone remember how many games can be played this shortened year before n ELC year is burned? Usually it's 9 but this year was different, due to the lock out.

Then, this being gm 4, we should sit Stajan, move Cervenka to center, Hudler fo RW and keep Baertschi on 3rd line LW with those 2.

How would he not burn a year. Hes not going to juniors. Hes going the AHL. That usually burns years off. If this isnt the case then what makes it so he doenst burn a year?

No. They get 5 games at the NHL level without burning a year. All ELC's are two way. He gets sent down he doesnt burn a year. He played in Abbotsford last year and didnt burn a year didnt he?

He only played a little bit last year once his junior team was done playing. So yes. The games played last year dont burn a year. But he will burn a year off this year no matter what. NHL or AHL. Not a big deal though. Throwing him to the fish to soon could hurt him. If Calg ruins this kid theyre future isnt looking as bright. Calg fans have to understand that theyre team has so many contracts that are waiver eligable and with Hudler back from home from his fathers thing, and Cervenka back from his blood clot. They have to many guys on the roster. Baertchi is able to be sent back without being waved. It isnt the end of the world. Calg isnt a cup contender. He'll be back this year, wait and see.

No as long as he plays less than 5 games this season his contract will "slide"

Check cap geek.

But I agree this will all be moot as I think he'll play more than the 5 games this year.

I think he is saying in general overall for the season. NHL or AHL. If Baertchi doesnt play 5 games he doenst burn a year. But he isnt junior eligable anymore. So he has to play somewhere. PRV i think is in the final year of his contract no? In fact he is.

the contract will slide only if he is sent back to his junior team, not ahl.

check minor league players in capgeek who played last year in ahl, their first year ELC is gone.

Right. Beartchi will play in the AHL this year and still have a full 3 years on his ELC as long as he does not play more than 5 games in the NHL. He would go down to Abbotsford and get paid his AHL salary not his NHL salary (similar to when Eberle, Nuge and all went down for the start of the year, they did not get paid their NHL Salary, just their AHL salary).

Na man. No matter what. NHL or AHL after this year Baertchi will have 2 years left on his ELC. He's being paid to play in the AHL or NHL.

Only diff in the AHL and NHL salary on ELC's is the bonus's.

They dont get to have Baertchi play for free in the AHL. Theyre paying him no matter what.

no, that's not how it works, 1 year will be gone. Hall, Ebs, RNH, were allowed to sign AHL contracts under special rules because of the lockout. It was a totally different scenerio, but if there wasn't a lockout, they would burn a year of their contract. However, it's usually a 2 way contract and they earn the lower amount when they play in the minors.
