"And the fact it will be matched. If Fyers tried to lure PK it would have to be via trade. Couturier would 100% have to be involved and Habs know Flyers are desperate so would require more."

Better get another forward back for Couts then cause the Flyers are short on forwards right now...even without the injuries wouldnt do it.

I disagree that it would require more. Couturier straight up for Subban would be an instant deal for MB. The flyers do not want to give up Couturier period. In my opinion he has #2 center locked up at 19 and the future is off the charts. Couts has enormous offensive potential and already shuts down #1 lines, wins face offs, plays the pp. In a couple years he will be a bonafide #1 center and between Giroux and him the flyers will be solid down the middle.

i'm not sold on 'coots' being the second coming of christ. some people say that years from now they will rename the selke after him, personally i see him as more of a saku koivu-ish potential

That is the dumbest post I have read today.

Whats compensation if that's not matched?
- willey101

Couturier is a pipe dream. If the Flyers did not give him up for Weber than he is not going anywhere. As a Rookie he outplayed Malkin in a 6 game series for Christ sake. He is already the Flyers second best player.

for Subban your looking at Gustafson, Read and a number 1. If he was worth anything more than that you would have no problem giving him a long term contract for 5 mill.

I am not saying it is not fair deal and the thought of Galchenyuk and Couturier at center for many years to come is a dream. Problem is a fan base who would require a superstar right now.

Habs fans are very fickle. Over analyze after every game and have unrealistic expectations.

When it comes to his contract, this scenario has nothing to do with Subban's ability. t's a team policy f contract negotiations. Name me a player on this team who was given a long term deal after his ELC. It doesn't happen here. That is why Bergevin wants the bridge cotnract

You can throw him in to the deal too as a freebie, flyers will have him in the lineup tomorrow.

If flyers and Habs make a deal you know Eller is involved because couturier is coming the other way as well.

My guess would be Subban and Eller for Couturier and a Dman?

MB is doing the right thing, stick to the plan with every contract and the future is bright. So far I like his management style, calm, cool and collected. As long as Markov is healthy and the team is winning Subban is not a priority.

Exactly. Plus we have Tinordi knocking on the door for a regular spot very soon. Only issue right now is we have Kaberle in the line-up....ouch

Unfortunately there are no dmen MB would want and if there was one they are injured. Come to think of it all the forwards are injured too, how about the newly signed experienced great in the locker room leader and washed up Knuble

Trade Subban and Eller to Islanders for Nino Niederieter, Visnovski and defensive prospect...or if Snow had some balls...offer Subban a 6 year $5 Million per offer sheet...

Neither. They should sign him for $4.5 million a year and make him sit if he doesn't like it.

If you acquired Subban and gave up Couturier then there would be a gaping whole with the Flyers. Plus we'd have Desharnais, Plekanec, Eller, galchenyuk, Couturier and White.

his numbers IN NO WAY justify him getting over 5 mil.

the habs should just move him, the return they would get in this market would be INSANE, and in the long run, would help them much more on the ice then P.K. would.

a 10 goal 35 pt d-man DOES NOT deserve that kind of money.

hell, erik karlsson more than doubled his points, and won the norris trophy, and only got 6.5.

Ya a $5 million contract would definitely work,. No way habs would match that.

Difference here is that Karlsson is an offensive player, Subban is an all round D-man. His point total is not high but his defensive side of the puck is. Kid finioshed +9 on one of the wrost teams in the NHL going against the NHL's best.

Second look around the league at comparable players. Who are they and what are they making?
