To get Subban? You would mark him untouchable?

I think as good as Hamilton's ceiling is, Subban's is higher. I'm not a fan of dealing Couturier for Subban, but arguably it is a fair deal.
- Jsaquella

Don't disagree.....but I do have a question for you....what is your thoughts now on Scott Laughton, and his chances of staying the entire year? We have now seen 4 games....has this changed your mind? I know it has changed mine.

I like Schenn but he's the type of player its going to take to get Subban. It really would come down to who Montreal values more Schenn or Couturier. Who would you choose?
- stveshdy

if we get subban...it will be for neither of them

I'd prefer to move Schenn. As good as I think he will be, I think Couturier will be better.

I'm with you.

Don't disagree at all. I'm just stating I would deal Schenn to get back Subban who can anchor this defense for years.
- stveshdy

I agree. Was just saying I'd rather see Schenn develop here if the Habs want more than a 1-for-1 deal.

I believe Timonen & Briere deals come off the books and I know they will probably re signed Giroux to a monster deal but they should have so money in the summer to play around with
- nonpoint22

About 6-7M. Briere has two more years after this Season.

If it was my call? Laughton would be headed to Oshawa right now, instead of Miami

Why would Montreal trade him here if they don't get one of those guys? Who else would get a deal done?

So if you had to add a 2nd rd pick you would say NO?

It has to. I'm not even close to saying that its the end all be all. But it has a bearing, even of the slightest.

And I swear I will spend this entire snowy Friday going back and forth with you about this point until you say Ok, Jeff, I acknowledge your stance.

I think the injury to Hartnell changed my opinion, that and only that. I think he will get plenty of playing time. The burning of the first year of his ELC won't stop management.

its gonna be a shock, i have no clue, but homer knows how critical it is to keep and develop them two into studs of the nhl...idk maybe #93?

Laughton

- nonpoint22

I wish it was that simple. Not sure Laughton is being valued as high as Couturier or Schenn. I do like Laughton though which is why I would trade one of those two for Subban.

I think Brayden Schenn is going to be a very good player in this League. Not a star, but along the level of past top player here such as 17 and 18.
- MJL

I think he could be on par with an Umberger type. Which isn't bad.

Let's face it, I was sure he was staying past six games as soon as he made the opening night roster. There's been nothing to change that, rather, there's been a lot to strengthen that opinion. The kid is a good, smart, feisty player. He's the kind of guy that winning teams always seem to have.

That said, if it's my call, he'd already be back in Oshawa.

Umberger is just an average player. Brayden Schenn's upside is much higher then that.

B Schenn easy 45-50 points a season, and plays with an attitude.
He's going to be a solid NHLer.

To assuage the crying masses in Philly who lament the dearth of second-round picks of late? Yes.
