I would also, but it would be hard to do.

I know it might be slightly overplayed, but Homer just brought his brother into the fold, do you think he sends the original Schenn packing 4 games deep?

I agree about being a good player but im not sure he will be as good as 17 & 18 to be honest.
- stveshdy

I think he will be in that level. Very good second line center/wing, who can be physical and score 20-25 goals.

Well you have to have a good defense. And there is a definite need there at that position.

That description fit many players until they fully developed. Steve Yzerman was th subject of trade rumors prior to the lockout-shortened 1995 season, for example.

Brayden Schenn hasn't even played a full NHL Season yet. So I'd agree.

I doubt it's a big concern for Holmgren if it means landing a guy like Subban

No prayer in getting them to accept that for Subban. They'd hang up the phone.

Not if it came down to it, but I can't imagine it not being a thought.

I don't think that would have any bearing whatsoever.

for some reason, i get this funny feeling that we can pull off this deal for a lot less then everyone is thinking/considering...idk why, but i cant see the flyers losing in this trade...

They don't have that much Cap space. But I would be okay with not making any deals. I want them to make the right deal. Not a panic deal.
- MJL

I believe Timonen & Briere deals come off the books and I know they will probably re signed Giroux to a monster deal but they should have so money in the summer to play around with

As much as I love coots I cant help but wonder how good Dougie Hamilton would look in a flyers shirt right now. To your point then maybe you make the trade knowing there are more options to replace Coots then a D man IDK
- nonpoint22

I think as good as Hamilton's ceiling is, Subban's is higher. I'm not a fan of dealing Couturier for Subban, but arguably it is a fair deal.

Don't disagree at all. I'm just stating I would deal Schenn to get back Subban who can anchor this defense for years.

Someone said the other night that Flyers fans want the team to trade for youth but don't want to wait for said youth to develop. They want the JVR's, Schenns, Couturiers, etc. to be fully ready & productive at 1st-line or 1st D-pair levels immediately.

Don't disagree with that prediction. I value defenseman more and would deal him for Subban. I just feel its easier to get a Schenn than Subban.

I agree, but I could see Schenn easily being a player equal to or better than Richards

It has to. I'm not even close to saying that its the end all be all. But it has a bearing, even of the slightest.

And I swear I will spend this entire snowy Friday going back and forth with you about this point until you say Ok, Jeff, I acknowledge your stance.

I like Schenn but he's the type of player its going to take to get Subban. It really would come down to who Montreal values more Schenn or Couturier. Who would you choose?

I'd prefer to move Schenn. As good as I think he will be, I think Couturier will be better. Montreal also has the Francophone thing, which obviously favors Couts.
