I'm prob one of the biggest Carkner critics here but the guy hasn't been noticeable which is good in my book. leave him in
- Cptmjl

I would leave Carkner in as well. With Finley's size it would be great for him to work out. You cannot help looking at Chara and dreaming about Finley being a Chara type. I know huge dream.

Anytime a "D" goes unnoticed its a good thing. Heck, Kenny Morrow went unnoticed for most of his career!

And he was terrific.

It'd be awesome to have his size on our blue line. I just can't stand these huge guys that don't throw the body though. He needs to amp his game up.

Think of Charles like a restaurant owner. He wants to drive up sales so he focuses on families. Now he changes the product over the years to try and accomodate that vision. From our joke of a mascot to the constant family push, Charles isn't interested in blood. He wants the game to be appropriate for 6 year olds. Hockey's the wrong sport for that vision.

Are you saying its not about fuzzy bunnies, loli pops and Unicorns??? Right if that was what I was looking for its called the NBA

It burns me when huge guys do not use there size. He does not have to do anything fancy. Finley can be a huge assett no pun intended.

It's ironic that the bigger "D" men dont throw the body as much as we'd all like them to.

Historically its the guys in the 5' 11" - 6' 2" 200-210lb range that seem to throw the body hardest and often. Of course there are exceptions to the rule. like Chara.

Players like Stevens and Kasper come to mind as big hitters with smaller frames.

Probably cuz usually the bigger they are the slower they are and if they miss or even if they do make good contact... it takes them out of the play. As long as he clears the front of the net and protects the skill players he is fine with me... That being said Id still like to see Hickey get some action.

Good point.

I think if Cartner doesnt try and do to much. He'll be fine and an asset.

I think everyone is curious to see what we have in Hickey.

Exactly...not to mention that guys like Chara and Finley can be called for contact to the head almost everytime now.

i still remember last year's eddie westfall night massacre. isles were nice enough to let the b's be the home team (they brought black sweaters and 75% of the fans). i think even eddie was wearing a b's sweater. awkward.

the brooklyn pipe dream aside, do you guys prefer wang moves you to quebec city or greater toronto? do you then still root for the new isles or become bruins or devils fans? i apologize for assuming there's enough dignity left not to follow the rangers.

- ron_mexico7

What "pipe dream"? The team already signed a 25 year lease to play in Brooklyn starting in 2015-16.

Broad Street? I pretty sure that refers to the Flyers and not the bruins.

I want to see hickey too but i think if there is team to have Finley play its the Bruins. Size to clear the crease is critical agains the B's

Not sure its going to matter with the DP handicap.

Makes one long for a Vukota or dare I say Baumgartner/ Gillies/ Howatt/ Tinordi/ Cairns/ Pilon. You get the point. Yeah old time hockey! The problem is not one of the Islanders supposed tuff guys is anywhere near anyone I listed...shame.

Worst Islander fighter of all time DP!

That's what it is. Be nice if one of these guys worked out long term. So far so good with everything I've seen

I will say this: I don't think this team is as soft as in years past. Carkner did do what he could to get at Phaneuf. Its not like in years past when JT would get run and the idiots on the ice would just stand around and look at each other.

I think there is no reason to have both Cizikas and Reasoner in the lineup. If you're going to play Cizikas, send Reasoner away and dress Boulton. That will add some more toughness.

They do seem a little tougher. They showed some mental toughness last night as well. I agree sit Reasoner and dress Boulton.

Agreed, a stronger message would've been better for sure. I crapped myself when he rode him into the boards. They ran him a little in the third but they could've been a little more rough about it. Dion is Dion, it's what he does. Cheap shot artist. Have no idea how he got away with that one yesterday? Anyone looking for a laugh got to the Leaf thread and read the post from 7 pm on. Funny how their demeanor changes. Especially wingzforlife who's a big Islander troll. What the guy is doing on a Leafs blog bashing the Isles is beyond me?
- Cptmjl

Funny, after Phaneuf hit Tavares I did like that Carkner went after him.......LORD KNOWS Okposo isnt doing squat. I said this last night, but to me, after they iced that game, i woulda sent someone (Finley) out there to jump him. Im so sick and tired of that guy getting away with this crap. If Crappy had any balls, he'd have sent a message. This guy head concussed Okposo, and noone did squat, and its now the second time he's pulled moves on JT. ENough is enough........when did hockey become a gentlemans sport? Go out there and smash that guy!!!!

Is it just me or does anyone else think that Carkner's response to Phaneuf was not enough? Understood Dion TURTLED (as he always does) and the refs where right in there. But at another point in that 3rd period someone should have sent a message to that D-bag Phaneuf!
- Oglethorpe72

The truth is, Okposo should have sent the message last night. I dont even care if you lose the fight, but go at that guy with gloves off and start throwing down. How is Kyle Okposo so much of a pu$$y?

bet the over tonight...

also ive seen enough of finley (and to a lesser extent AMAC and carkner), i think its time Hickey gets into a game...if we're concerned that the team is too soft with finley out, play boulton and scratch reasoner...

I think you need to dress Boulton to combat Lucic. Reasoner is pretty useless anyway.

I agree a stronger message needed to be sent. If Dion will not respond then you need to lay a huge hit on one of the Leafs stars then maybe the Leaf players will get on Dion for wimping out.
