You're right, he'll continue to keep it below the minimum with BS buyouts and cap hits that are larger then the actual salary
- Vukota

Again... I dont think he will because he has made it publically known that he actually outbid Colorado for Ryan Smyth, outbid New Jersey for Vochenkov and outbid Pittsburgh for Paul Martin... Not necessarily his fault they didnt wanna come here, when Nassau County was rejecting everything everytime he tried to do something...

I think the team gets piled on sometimes too much but the way the team is run is a complete embarrassment. You had people on will call lines the first two games that missed half the first period because they can't email people tickets.

Season ticket holders not getting phone calls after the lockout who had already paid. Not getting their tickets. Ticket prices going up every year with 30% of the roster being waiver pickups..is a joke

That is a joke It never ends with this team. Who doesn't email tix in this day and age? This makes me believe even more he is selling this team when they move. Its just getting more and more sloppy almost as he doesn't care because he won't be around much longer. At least that's what I hope

Then u are a retard my friend... There a far worse owners in this league and others... Sry you cant face the facts... Sry Milbury (frank)ed the team up and they are still trying to fix it 10+ yrs later... Its not all Wang's fault... You think he likes losing millions and millions of dollars every year???

Or the realistic way to look at it is most players want to stay as far away from this franchise as they can. Lets ignore the fact that the franchise is run like a circus and lets keep making excuses

Wang doesn't care about winning. If he did, this team wouldn't be run like a dumpster diving squat house.

The point is, for whatever reason, PAP was scoring on the Isles. He had two productive seasons. Why let a guy who obviously produces for you walk away for nothing, especially when the money to keep him wasn't THAT bad? You could have had PAP AND signed Boyes and created some depth. Instead, you let PAP walk for nothing. Doesn't make sense to me...
- Jethro09

I'll tell you why.......because they are planning on that top line wing being filled by either Nino or Strome.......both of which will most likely make the team next year. PAP wanted a multi year deal. They didnt want him for four years.....

Knowing this, they SHOULD have traded him at the deadline. That was absolutely poor managing by Snow. But, as we all know.......he's learning as he goes.

No he doesnt like losing millions of dollars, and yes he kept the team on the island. But, lets not make on like he's some innocent in all this. Just ask Sanjay Kumar. For Wang to not be able to get a deal done in the worst financial times since the depression, tells me he's not absolved of any wrong doing. Clearly he pissed of someone.........and by someone i mean both Dems and Rebublicans.

Rick we both agree here. I think Snow figured he could get PA signed for 2 years as a stop gap before two of Nino, Strome, Nelson, Kabanov were ready to play in the NHL. I think a 4 year deal would have blocked a younger player from taking a top six role and he didn't think PA was worth it. If one of these prospects takes over the spot on JT's line next season then it makes sense, if not, then it's just another question mark.

Might have to disagree with you here man. Granted Milbury did set the team back, but Snow has had ample time now to fix the problem. Snow is a horrible GM and Wang is an even worse owner. Look at some of the shat these guys have done, its a f'n joke. Using loopholes to get to the cap floor, waiver wire pickup after waiver wire pickup. Keeping players who should be developing properly in the AHL/juniors up on the Isles roster, also to help hit the cap floor…. Having a fecking defunct arena football league mascot trot around the coliseum, superhero days, raising ticket prices this season while doing nothing to improve the team.
Players don’t respect the organization because they don’t respect the owner or general manager. The fact that Tavares decided to stay here long term makes me scratch my head, but I’m glad he did.
When we move to Brooklyn, I would hope that this organization classes itself up a bit or it will be the same crap all over again, just in a sick arena…and that will only get the Isles so far if things stay status quo.

I have had my share of cracking jokes and being frustrated with DP. I won't let on I never have wished he would just retire. So before something happens to one of his knees or hips tonight I have to think back and remeber this kid is a huge personality. He was well on his way to being a top goalie and maybe an elite goalie. He signed long term with us (and yes every one of us would have too) even though then and now we were not a prime location for players to want to be. He showed many times he really was happy being an Islander (yes the contract helped). He never ever said a negative thing about the team or the fans (and we know he has tons of reasons to want to). He worked at being a pro and staying in shape ,I stil think he was too muscle bound for a goalie to be quite honest when I saw him in training camp here in Canada.

All these things were going for him and for some unfair reason he had the absolute worst luck I have ever seen. Even though we all could scream that he just won't hang up the blades you have to respect the fight he has and that he is not a quitter. Lets face it he gets the money in the end. But the guy just loves the sport, being with a team and it isn't like he wants to lose. Yes all signs point to him needing to surrender to his unfortunate health but really it isn't his fault he has nagging injuries and bad luck. Yes its his fault he won't quit but he loves hockey just like any one of us.I know I will get hung here and some will mock what I write and tear this post to bits but would I ever love it if he did stay healthy and played respectable as a back up. Well enough to shut all those fans up , including even myself. I know its unlikely and will never happen but I'd kinda enjoy it for him to be able to laugh last and the Isles benefit from it, cause I hear we have him locked up for a few more years!

DP's last 5 games in Boston: 0-5 .880 save %.
This should work wonderfully for the Isles tonight.

some would argue he's due.....

Come on Debbie's.....no need for the all doom & gloom just yet. It's like a bunch of broken records...
Thought we might have seen Ricky last night with the way Nabby was playing in the 1st period. (which looked like shiet)
And honestly...who here has REALLY seen Rick play much lately? I don't think in the scrimmage either goalie was trying 100%. He doesn't have to be spectacular. He just needs to keep them in the game and get lucky occasionally. He's here and if he can stay healthy he will improve. Not like the guy never had "it." Tim Thomas wasn't spectacular early on in his career. But don't listen to me. Everyone here is an absolute authority and an expert on everything hockey. Some of you need to CTFO and give things time. It's not like he's had 4 all star defensemen in front of him and lets in 20 out of 24 shots. But when the home arena boos him, do think that helps? No. It only makes him try harder and maybe that's where some things go wrong. Geez, I hope you all don't treat your children the same way when they fail.

I share the same sentiments as the rest of you about the management of this team. But i have a different thought about whats going on now. I really only think this is possible IF,and thats a big IF, the rumor is true that Wang is going to buy out the remainding contract with the Coliseum at the end of this season and go to Brooklyn beginning next year. Is it possible by letting all these little things go wrong, and not putting any of his own money to fix, it just gives him more ammo to pull the trigger on this? Just a thought

If Rick gets lit up tonight and looks inferior doing so, it's time to say goodbye. The time to say goodbye was two years ago actually. I think the fact they are even letting him play is a kick in the face to the fans and more importantly his teammates. How can this team be serious about the playoffs with this jackass getting a start?

I agree with you... Wang isnt the best owner and Snow isnt a great GM but on the 1 big trade Snow made he got hosed (not because of what he gave up) but because Smyth took less money and signed somewhere else. Please do explain the "ample" times Snow has had to fix the organization.

Yes keeping Nino up last year to reach the cap floor was a utter joke and huge mistake in Nino's development... but I have no problem using the loopholes and using the waiver wire. If he didnt use the waiver wire we wouldnt have Moulson or Grabner on this team (and right now Strait looks like a pretty good pick-up... not to mention I dont think it will last but Aucoin and Finley are playing pretty decent.) If no one is going to sign here and he doesnt want to over pay a player then why not use the loopholes? If you owned a business... wouldnt you wanna save money any way possible and make money?

Yes having a dragon run around the arena during home games is comical but does it really bother you that much? Does it effect how you watch the game or how the Islanders play? And I have no problem on a monday afternoon on a holiday that school is not in session, in having Superhero day... Why not? make the little kids excited. Did that also effect you in some great way?

With that being said... Are there better owners? Yes. Are there better GM's? Yes. Are there worse Owners? Yes. Are there worse GM's? Yes.

Time will tell... But beleive it or not... Brooklyn will help.

I'm in the minority but I'm not convinced Brooklyn will help. The isles just alienated 70% of their fan base that goes to games. If they aren't any good there either, why would attendance and revenue change much .?

Except for the immediate surrounding area... Its easier to get there now... I live in Suffolk and it will take me 1hr to get there. Thats a BS excuse. If that alienates fans then they arent real fans...

1 hour by train is so easy.
