This is exactly what Phaneuf does. He is always out of position, takes on too much, goes for the big hit or tries to deal out retaliation. He is the easiest to get off his game just by chirping to him.

He should not be captain. He was only chosen as Burke could market him as a bigh canadian boy whose face looks good on a slurpee cup.

I do not rememeber Al MacInnis, Devis Potvin, Znedo Chara, Scott Stevens, Larry Robinson, or ANY other D-man of note ever break the arm of his own player. He is unfocused and wild.

He nailed Taveres good, it was a good hit, problem was he heard the footsteps of the two Islanders coming to pummel him and he rushed the pass....as for the Lupul thing, dude, that was just a freak accident. Al Mac has in fact hurt his own players both in Calgary and St. Louis, as has Weber, and host of the big booming shooters. What bothered me about the play is that Phaneuf didn't follow through with his pass and let the Islanders come and beat him up. Neither were that tough.
