I like that the Leafs are actually putting pressure on the puck handler when on the PK. It's something I know a lot of people were complaining about under the Wilson teams. It's already proven very effective.

Reimer only played well during a stretch a games that meant nothing.

Neither goalie is any good.

- Fakepartofme

Im pretty sure every game meant something to him. Unless you're suggesting that players only play to make the playoffs and not make millions through their play.

This whole crap about meaningless games is...well...meaningless.

Yes, Reimer playing very well over a stretch of 41 games does nothing to prove he could be effective over a stretch of 48.

Reimer played behind a really good team yesterday, but was shakey.

Both goalies look as good as the skaters in front of them.

- Feeling Glucky?

i dont know what game you were watching to think he was shakey... 1 weak goal scored by malkin that wouldnt have even gone in if it didnt bank off reimer skate... and then when the leafs needed him to shut the door when they got the lead he did... thats exactly what you want from your goalie

And he played outstanding to start last season and took the Leafs to a 4-1 record until he got hurt.

And they weren't all meaningless. He played over 37 games in his first season and had a .921 sv% with a 2.60GAA. Over 37 games that's far from a "meaningless stretch"

True.

Its not like we're still trying to win our first Cup in franchise history.

- systemtool

OMG you went there...there are more then 6 teams now. You can't brag about wining the cup more then a team that has been in the league less time then when you last saw a cup. It's been 50 years since you have been even to the finals.

So this looks a lot like Wilson's leafs...

Could it be this team's problem was more than just the coach?

This. Like it or not, Reimer was 24-10-6 before getting his bell rung. Surely, that means something.
- Leeman4Gilmour

90% of those games were meaningless games played at a time when the leafs usually turn it on cause they have nothing to play for.
Biggest mistake leaf fans make is thinking too much about the games Reimer played at the end of that one season when they were already out of the playoffs.

Expect to see a lot of games like this one from both Scrivens and Reimer this year.

The Brooklyn Islanders? Or the NY Islanders? With all the bankruptcy issues your franchise has, you never know...

Oh, do you set the rules? (frank), our bad dude, we didn't realize Canucks fans set the rules about talking about cups, seeing as they've never won any

The truth.

WTF is a meaningless game in Toronto when you're at the bottom of the standings and the entire media and fan base is raking you over the coals for giving Boston another top 5 pick?

And aren't most of the teams you play along the way playing "meaningful" games, anyway? I'm pretty sure a team on the cusp of the playoffs doesn't let up just because they're playing the Leafs and we've declared the game "meaningless".

The Leafs also played a hard game last night, early in the season. It sure looks like they ran out of gas after the 1st. Scrivens sh1t the bed. That doesn't help.

Except it wasn't meaningless that season. They were battling for a playoff spot until the last 2ish weeks of that season.

the Leafs let very, very little through vs Pittsburgh, and he had a few close calls.

both goals were weak, IMO. Scrivens let in 2 weak ones here too, but the Leaf's defense was non-existant.

What did Reimer do there?
