Those were defensive breakdowns for sure.. But sometimes a team needs its good to bail em out. Scrivens has allowed 3 sloppy goals.
Neither has proven to be a stud, but anyone pretending Scrivens should be starting over Reimer is out to lunch. Reimer clearly has more potential.
That being said, everyone gloating about how our goaltending is fine.. With a 3 game window to prove their point needs a head shake. I'm quite confident in a condensed season, our goaltending will leave us with a lotto pick. - joel878
If Reimer turns in a half-season's worth of work on par with his first year in the NHL, this team makes the playoffs easily.
I honestly don't know what to expect with our goaltending. It's a total wild card. |

The first goal was Scriven's fault. After that, not gonna blame him at all.
He still needs time, look at what Kadri is becoming... Maybe, just maybe, we can be a group of fans that give our young players time to develop... no? Ok, fine I'll shutup then.. - mfreedman
Second game night in a row, 4th game in 6 nights, breakdowns are going to happen.
Hopefully they can pull it out!!

Dont be foolish, he had one decent game with two HORRIBLE goals. - Fakepartofme
1st one wasnt great... 2nd one was the best player in the world on a breakaway... if it didnt go 5-hole it would be going somewhere else... not to mention when we got the lead he completely shut the door... as much as the defence sucked you cant tell me scrivens shouldnt have poked that or blocked the pass before it even got there |

No he hasnt. He's proven he can play games that mean absolutely nothing. - Fakepartofme
By taking an imploding team to the cusp of a playoff spot? Pretty sure those games were getting pretty damn meaningful when we were 3-4 points out. |

Fair enough.. Can only argue that so much.
Either way.. I think Reimer clearly has more potential. I see Scrivens as a career backup at best. Reimer at least has a shot at being a starter in this league.
I can't help but think this string of Scrivens starts is nothing more than a structured plan to ease Reimer back in as starter. - joel878
I agree that Reimer is the Leaf's main goalie, I feel that in starting Scrivens tonight, it gave Reimer a break to keep him fresh for the Rangers since they'll want someone a bit more seasoned than Scrivens to face Nash, Gaborik, etc. |

That's good humor right there......
Hey if the Leafs win give us a parade route joke or something, that'd be too funny.

After not playing for how long? If he's going to get back into the groove of things he has to play consistently, allowing 2 goals from arguably 2 of the best players in the NHL is not that big of a deal. Yesterday, if Scrivens were in, the score probably would have been 5-4 Pittsburgh. - ThePresident
If Scrivens was in net yesterday, it woulda been 20-0 for the Leafs. Reimer held the offense waaay back. |

absolutely. after going so long without playing, i think him starting back to back games out of the gate would have been a mistake. i think it's clear reimer should be this teams starter, and i hope that's the overall plan. |

it is a total wild card, but i think it's a positive that reimers only shotty play at the nhl level has been very injury clouded.
we haven't really seen a whole lot out of reimer to indicate that he doesn't have a shot at being a quality starter in the nhl when he's healthy. |

I'm so sick and tired of us busting out the "ifs" when it comes to this (frank)ing team. We deserve all the trolling we get for poop like that. And I know you're not necessarily saying if he can do it, but making a point on how he played that first year....but (frank). Just adding my 1 cent. |

I think it is; from time to time, Scrivens can be a solid backup against teams that are mid-par like the Leafs, but I feel like Reimer is their guy unless they find a better upgrade at a reasonable price. |

i think scrivens time is best served starting for the marlies.
i just don't think he's the goaltender we should be worried about developing into an nhl starter. if it happens, great.. but we have a tender with alot more potential.
just an opinion. |
