oh they still come around.. i was fully expecting a lupul hate fest today - Dozzer
Ya Dozzer, the day that Lupul signed a new deal, I was surprised of all the angry Leaf fans who wanted him traded. Than they come up with all sorts of proposals to trade Kessel. At what point in time did actual Leaf fans begin hating the teams stars? I can remember how Sittler & Salming were worshipped. Same for Clark & Gilmour. Perhaps this bad habit began with Sundin who was never treated fairly.

I was asked for my recommendation and Bruce was at the top of my list, I didn't submit any other name, he was to be my replacement but they kept the ref tag on my name in case I decided to come back. - LeafMan

if these guys get the leafs into the playoffs and heaven forbid win a round, they will be worshiped too.
even sundin was a hero when he took the leafs to the playoffs..it wasnt til the end where he became the problem.. after missing the playoffs for the first time in forever.
Ive Learned two things since coming back to the HB, 1-dont ask about people that used to be on here, 2- you are not a girl! I will not fall for that again.

Sundin was loved for the most part, the hatred was geared towards management and fans complaining about him not having quality wingers.

Ya but even when the Leafs were winning Sundin was constantly dissed by fans. Let's be honest, he wasn't respected as much as Clark or Gilmour & that's just wrong. The fact that the Leafs were winning under Quinn hid alot of the dissing that Sundin recieved but it still exsisted.

My theory about Kessel is that we've been so beat down by all the Kessel trade bashing that we're afraid to even admit we got a very good player out of it.
It's as if we set ourselves up for criticism simply for suggesting that he's a hell of a player. I think we sell him short just because we want to keep our heads down and try to avoid more scrutiny.
