Yes I agree. Who cares about some Richard college footbal player from the US. The Leafs who are the center of the hockey universe are playing decent hockey. That's all that matters.

This is pretty much the only reaction I can muster to it. The whole story is so convoluted that I can't even begin to tell you what's even going on or why it's a worthwhile story to cover.
So, some guy came up with some hoax to fool some football player, and... why is this on the national news every night?

Hey did you watch the TSN lead up to the game last night? I can't remember who it was, Pang? but he was asked about Carlyle's methods of not telling the press who starts in goal. Pang (or someone) said yeah it's not fair asking your goalie to lie to the media and may play on their mind.
I was like, frank me, he's a 25/26 year old male. Frank, i lie to myself everyday.
Anywho, my question is: DO any of the Sportsnet or TSN guys actually LIKE the Leafs?

Well, a couple of points here:
1) If (as I suspect) he created the whole thing in order to try to boost his Heisman Trophy chances, he deserves to get busted. That's dirty pool.
2) I find it quite fascinating from a PR perspective. There's an old adage: it's not the lie, it's the cover-up.
He's obviously busted. When the story came out, it was embarrassing. But rather than admit the truth, he keeps concocting bigger lies, further smearing his reputation.
Oh, and I hate Notre Dame, so I'm loving this like a girlfriend I've never met who got into a car accident and died of leukemia.
