I think they just ran out of gas. They seemed to just be going through the motions after the 1st. - Feeling Glucky?
As the boys pn Leafs TV said last night that the Leafs were tired last night & they needed goaltending to come up big last night. I'd like to add to that. The Leafs inexperience in net is indeed going to kill them on back to back games as evident last night. That could be the Leafs achilles heel this year. When they are not on their game, if their goaltending cannot come up big, seriously they don't have a chance in hell of making the playoffs.
The forecheck completely disappeared. They clogged the neutral zone, or tried to, and made little effort to penetrate the Islanders end of the ice until the third period. Whatever formation they used, they just sat back and let the Islanders come to them. - systemtool
You could tell they ran out of gas in the second period...there wasn't a lot left in the tank for transition opportunities. I guess most teams have had a stinker like this one. Assuming there's a learning opportunity here, not too much to worry about right now. Leafs fans going into these back to back games probably assumed a loss like last night's against Pittsburgh, and win like Wednesday's against NYI. Either way, it comes out to be the same, again, as long as these guys learn from last night's game.

This may be true. I think we'll be sitting a lot prettier once Riemer shakes the rust, but I don't think Scrivens is a bad goalie either. Just needs some more seasoning.

I'm just proud to say I had yet to hear of any of these shows until you mentioned them. - p_zub
You lucky bastard...Ive been too lazy to hobble my way to the remote. This is the worst channel Ive ever seen. I havent even watched all those shows, but the commercial previews are bad enough to make you a pro at noose knots.

Seriously, Keith (frank)ing Aucoin? - p_zub
Ya Aucoin fukked us twice last night. First by scoring than taking away Kessel's 1st goal. Kessel is obviously pressing to hard, he is over playing the puck, not shooting from good angles. Kessel needs that 1st goal & thanks to Aucoin, his slump goes on.

PS hows that ankle doing? - lumlums
Taking its time, like the Leafs.
Its more the frustration of doing nothing all day thats the worst of it all. The wife is just a jerk, so that doesnt help. I told her to buy beer for the game on Wednesday. She bought a 6 pack. I told her to get some for last nights game, when she came home she had no beer. I asked why she didnt buy any and she told me because she bought some the day before and I should have saved some.
But hey, at least she got me the Atwood book I didnt ask for.
