I saw him get bumped off the puck a couple times, but he won more puck battles than he lost.
Saw several other Canucks and Flames get bumped to the ice, as well. It happens... - Fosco
I must, of course, admit to some exaggeration. I don't think AV will be giving him much opportunity unfortunately. It's too bad because the Canucks need some younger (lesser paid too) players to contribute. Gillis has not (yet) been successful with his drafting. |

On a couple teams, sure, BUT 80%? NOT A CHANCE! - As_I_See_It
You're right, 80% is off, Burrows makes 100% of those teams first lines better. |

My big thing with Burrows is: it's entirely evident he's gotten the chance to play with the Sedins because he's a good fit. Chemistry is everything in the NHL, so when you're looking at whether he would bump similar good fits from their top line (say Brouwer and Ovechkin), you have to make huge assumptions about how Player X fits in to Line 1's chemistry on Team Y.
So the Burrows is a first liner conversation is kind of inane. In fact the whole concept of having ONE top line is going out the window. To push it further, the whole Top 6-Bottom 6 dichotomy is going out the window in the NHL. |

Ahhhhh, and so to it we come at last. Just because Kassian is playing with the twins and Burrows is now centring the second line (a position he has not played) does not mean he is not a "first line" player either. I think that people outside Vancouver that don't get to watch Burrows play on a daily basis let a few unsavoury incidents taint their opinion of his hockey abilities. When he has been played in a first line situation he has risen to the task and performed at the level of a "first line" player. Now he is being asked to anchor the second line while Kesler is injured, and I expect he will also rise to the occasion. - 1970vintage
My point is that labels dont matter. Burrows and Ryan could be both considered 1st liners, is Wolski a 1st line player now because he plays with Ovechkin?? It's just a label, you are what your numbers say you are. |

Doesn't look like it. Everyone on the team seems to love him. Our leadership core is a lot stronger than Buffalo's, so that won't be a problem. - Boinker

Wasn't Carl Hagelin skating on the NYR top line for the first two games? |

Most biased blogger on this site, pure comedy. Canuckland has been over-valuing their team for over a decade with ONE finals appearance, not even a win. I believe they are the current leaders for professional sports teams without a championship. It's fun to watch them flounder, actually. Cheap, dirty, whiney players followed by hockey-illiterate fans. They stole the U2 warmup song from another team, stole the "woooooooo" when they score from Boston, and each year it is ONE person's fault for their failure. The Province has had headlines in past years in April blaming the likes of Bure, Naslund, Messier, Luongo. No wonder these guys want out. Watch Vigneault's face on almost every penalty against them....it's this ridiculous, "oh, everyone is always against us" look. That same lazy, entitled attitude runs rampant in the Canucks organization from the GM to the players and to the fans. WHen's the last time Bieksa hit someone while the play was going and the opposing player was facing him? Kessler....lol...yeah....too easy.

I thought it was Nash - Richards - Gaborik?
I'd take AB over Hagelin, but in a few years that may change as Hagelin has some talent |

The ironic part is that Neilson was actually waving the white flag, as in surrender when he felt the refs had made bad calls to put the game out of hand for the Hawks.
Yet the Canuck fans adopted it and wave the white flag at every playoff game. - steveb12344

I think they brought Gaborik up after losing the first 2 games. But yeah, obviously that line is stacked now. |

Yes, ABSOLUTELY, sorry about that.
Also, I love Hagelin but another poster expressed about the same way I feel. NOW I would take Burrows of Hagelin, but next year probably not...two years from now, forget it, no contest. |

You are correct about the Neilson history lesson....but by JLO's account then every team that now waves towels at games, should be called out and then immediately stop the practice and create their own identity.

The white towel tradition started with Vancouver when R. Nielson waved a towel in surrender to the refs after several questionable calls. He is seen waving the towel tied to a hockey stick with Tiger Williams & Stan "Steamer" Smyl at his side. |

I agree with this list+ and I'm sure that many more would.
Only Canucks fans view Burrows as a "top 3" winger, while the rest of the hockey world knows he's not.
Even AV isn't thinking as much these days! |
