Really? Any reason why?
- mayorofangrytown

because my gut says bryz isn't the long term answer even though i'd love him to be. heeter is the only legitimate prospect they have. he's showing great promise in his first ahl season, after an excellent college career. and he'll be the perfect age for goalies entering their prime. he just turned 25. he's big, at 6'4, and just about 200 lbs, athletic, and can handle the puck...that's the modern day goalie. also, he has good hockey name. so that's reason enough.

he went undrafted, but plenty of guys have had success going the same route. time will tell.

edit: i know they have stolarz...but i don't know how legit of a prospect he really is. he just jumped from college to junior hockey.

They still could use the compliance buyout in the summer of 2014.

Heeter's shown a lot of potential in the AHL.

- Jsaquella

yes, they can. question though. do compliance buyouts go away completely after the 2nd year of the CBA?

he has. like what i see. let him get his feet wet this year. maybe he backs up next year, as leighton will be gone. bryz could be out after that, and he takes over. that's my forecast.

With tonight's game being back end of B2B and middle game of a 3-in-4, I think there's a decent chance that Biron gets tonight's start.

Yes, compliance buyouts are done after 2014, regardless if used or not

Not impossible. I hadn't considered that extra year to hold off on a compliance buyout.

Not to question you on Heeter, because idk anything about the kid, but he is the #34 ranked goalie in save% in the AHL, #43 in GAA, and has a 7-11-1 record... I get that he is a rookie, but to say he looks like the starter in 2 years- seems like a stretch to me...

The team's level of play may have something to do with that, but I haven't really kept up with the Phantoms this season.

No I understand, but just seems a little premature to be really excited. Like I said, I havent seen the kid or watched him play.. so im solely basing off of stats..

Munroe has a much better save% and gaa....

i'm no expert in his play by any means...just my educated guess. his numbers aren't good, but by all accounts, he's played very well for the phantoms. i don't think they're a very good squad - just not much talent there.

reasonable to say it's a stretch for him to be the guy in 2 years. i'm throwing it out there based on some circumstantial evidence. as i said, i'd love for our choice of bryz to actually pan out.

I was reading up on systems today and according to some dude at Notre Dame you need to shoot the puck on net to score goals and scoring goals is hard work so they have to be prepared to work hard.

that's what i thought. seems sort of a strange ruling to limit it to the first 2 years.
