Would picking up a Veteran like Arnott on a 1 year deal not be a bad thing? It's a short season, so he should have something in the tank for 40+ games to help this team.

They could add Crosby and I couldn't tell you 100% that it'd work out. No player is a guarantee. But dismissing him because of speed is ignoring what else has worked in this system before and what is missing now.

It also opens up a possible trade, now they can move a draft pick for a player.

I think the way I say things creates a hostile tone or something..

Flyers fans are disgusted enough as it is. Now you are telling us the net result of the 2007 season from hell, is a bottom pairing or worse d-man from an awful Leafs team?
- PLindbergh31

Players develop at their own pace. If the internet had been around in 1974, folks would be complaining that the Flyers just traded an excellent young prospect in Al MacAdam (who did go on to have a decent NHL career) for a lazy stiff like Reggie Leach, who was an occasional healthy scratch in 1972-73 and bottom six player for the god-awful California Seals early in his career.

We have Unholy Goalie / TwoForTruth.

The guy was happy last night that Lupul got hurt, because it proved his point that they shouldn't have given him a contract extension.

Not especially. Just saying that to dismiss him as a bad fit just because he's not fast is superficial and ignores that two other fairly slow skaters had a great deal of success in this system just last season.

I'm also pointing out that it allows them to trade a pick for a player, too. Not necessarily a FA signing. I'd rather see what is out there in trade anyhow, because most free agents are coming off the couch and will need to get in shape and get their hands back.

For two years, all Leafs Nation has heard is what a bust Kadri was. A favourite comparison was B. Schenn.

Now after 3 games, Kadri rhymes with Gretzky, and you guys want to push B. Schenn off a pier.

There's nothing wrong with either of them.

But hey, if you want to dump him for an early 2nd round pick, call Nonis.

Please.

- Atomic Wedgie

Schenn rhymes with benn. Doesn't matter. Trade him for a late first.

I was just being silly Bill. I have already stated that the trade was made by both teams to try and address an area of weakness. The Leafs wanted a young power forward, while the Flyers had a glaring need on the backend for a young physical, defensive defenseman.

Only time will tell how this trade will be viewed. And by time I mean a few years.

Wow. I think I saw Bob M tweet that Lupul will miss about a month. Which probably equates to 12-15 games. That is basically 1/3 of this season.

I just dont want us to think he will solve our problems. I love big centers. I actually would prefer bigger centers and smaller wingers.. thats me though..

Same prognosis? I would sign on for Hartnell missing a month right now. You just know it will be the worst case scenario, 6-8 weeks.
