What kind of pick are you expecting to get for B Schenn?

Haha. Bill why even bother evaluating flyers prospects. They will inevitably be gone
- Just5

Considering how badly Hovinen played, combined with rumors of him being lazy and not wanting to work on his game, this is about as surprising as the Sun rising in the east.

Considering he was signed as basically an undrafted FA means he wasn't exactly a top prospect

I don't think that Schenn could barely hold onto a 3rd pairing role is an accurate description. He is very young for a defenseman. He's had as much NHL success to this point, if not more then JVR has. Schenn has a real chance to be a real good NHL physical defensive defenseman.

Nothing wrong with the rest of your post, but what exactly is the first statement based on?

He was 7th in TOI/G last year for Leafs defencemen.

He was tied for 6th in shifts per game.

He was nailed to the bench in all important situations.

For a guy who is supposed to be a shut-down defender, he saw very little PK time.

The only reason he was in the line-up so much is because Ron Wilson had a burning hate for Franson.

Does the guy have potential? He sure does.

But let's be honest here: he was a bottom pairing or worse guy for the last two seasons in Toronto.

For one, I don't believe in gender roles and social stereotyping.

And it's an ace story. I'm reading the novel now.

I have a friend that's going to freak out because he flipped when they got rid of Eriksson and I told he shouldn't be upset but he refuses.

Hopefully they sign a guy like Arnott with the open slot.

Flyers look like they'll be doing something soon.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

Woywitka (STL) and Kennedy (SJS) clear waivers. PHI puts Niko Hovinen on unconditional $125 waivers for mutual termination of contract.

That frees up a contract slot.

- Jsaquella

when i saw woywitka hit waivers yesterday, thought the flyers might bring him back into the fold.

not surprised by hovinen. don't worry. he'll be a future HOF, MVP, Calder, Smythe, Vezina, Jennings, and multiple Cup winner.

Arnott is slow as a slug. Not fit for our system.

Hell of a guy and I would sign him regardless just to watch him play.

Flyers fans are disgusted enough as it is. Now you are telling us the net result of the 2007 season from hell, is a bottom pairing or worse d-man from an awful Leafs team?

Actually, the season before last, Schenn was second on the Leafs in TOI per game and led the team's defensemen in average PK time per game.

Last season, he did play really poorly. The season before, he was one of the Leafs most heavily used defensemen.

it was so stupid. drunken guy just ripping him, yelling, the whole game. you suck, jvr, jvc, dvr, dvd..etc. relentless. after 1 period of it, i couldn't take it anymore so i stood up and yelled down the row for him to the shut the (frank) up, we get it, you think he sucks. the guy was wearing a mel bridgeman jersey and started giving me poop for my "new" lindbergh jersey, and that i had no idea who mel bridgeman was. well....the gloves were off then, but i kept my cool enough to not get into a physical altercation with him. his dopey friends just sat there.

i moved my seat for the 3rd period. best part was that jvr scored in the 3rd period and my whole section stood up and gave the guy poop. fabulous.

About 10 years ago, I attended a Millwall game in London. The motto of the fans is "Nobody Likes Us, We Don't Care." The stadium is exposed cinderblock. It's a scary, scary place.

A drunk in my section was screaming at Millwall's striker for the entire first half, saying things that would make a sailor blush. The entire section was horrified - particularly because he was doing this in front of his ten-year-old son, who seemed to be used to it, as he wasn't even blinking.

Millwall went down 2-0. Mr. Drunky was screaming to everyone how he should be in charge, he was the only one who knew what this team should do, etc.

And then Millwall scored 4 unanswered goals to win 4-2, with the striker in question getting a hat trick.

It was beautiful.

He'd be a good 3rd/4th line guy with veteran leadership qualities and he has some offensive ability left. I'd also be interested in Dominic Moore although with his wife passing, I don't know how interested he is in returning this year.

Would picking up a Veteran like Arnott on a 1 year deal not be a bad thing? It's a short season, so he should have something in the tank for 40+ games to help this team.

I'd be open to adding Arnott. The pickings are kind of slim.

He's a defenceman on a bad team in his 4th year and he averaged 16 minutes.
- mayorofangrytown

One Season he averaged 22 minutes a game. Still doesn't add up to barely being able to hold a 3rd pair spot. 16 minutes is still a solid total. He's 23 years old. Development of young defenseman is rarely linear. It is normally ups and downs.
