Where is this Iginla talk coming from? - ImThatGuy
He is a UFA after this season is over... so there are people assuming he will be traded out as a rental come the deadline. He has a full NTC and loves Calgary so I don't know why people would assume he would waive it to come to Buffalo....
most likely a Rick Nash type situation.. Detroit, NYR, SJ, LAK, BOS, PITT, or Philly type guy... |

Unless we get something back that's going to make our roster better NOW, it's probably better not to make a deal just yet
If we trade Leopold or Sekera, it will weaken us and strengthen our competition
What if we trade one of them & then ehrhoff were to get hurt,
Now our defense looks weak
I certainly wouldn't trade within our conference unless the deal is amazing... I'm not helping out Philly or anyone else we are in competition with...
I think it's prob better to wait till the deadline,
We keep our depth, and it's not like we won't be able to trade a defenseman at the deadline if we want... They get notoriously overpaid for at that time so we'll still get a good return
Two exceptions...
1) we get a good deal for Brennan
-if we are just having him sitting in the box he's not helping us or his trade value
2) Detroit or an other team out West makes us an offer that'll help us now
-Brennan or Leopold for someone like Darren Helm might seem reasonable... It'd give us a scrappy guy for our 3rd/4th line who can chip in a little offensively and solid on faceoffs... He actually reminds me of Ott... If Detroit's calling (and I'm sure they are), that's the guy I WANT... But if they're just offering a 2nd rounder, pass - jdfitz77
I didnt say Darcy had to make a deal but you have to think that his phone has been pretty busy . Detroit has to have called along with Philadelphia.
Detroit has a ton of injuries on defense already and Philadelphia's defense is slow and that has showed the 1st 3 games. Unless Philadelphia is already willing to toss this year away I think they are calling Darcy for Sekera , Leo and Brennan. |

I disagree. If 1 of those 2 lines are coming at you every 45 seconds and just running all over your team it will be hard to build momentum and will wear down your players, and kill any momentum. - ImThatGuy
Well they better win this year with that bunch . Because with the salary cap reduction next year , they will be in Salary cap hell. I think to win the cup you better have more than 2 lines. |

Iginla would be amazing on this team.. One thing we dont have on this team is a dominant power forward.. - BuffaloKyle
Although I have my doubts I hope this role is filled by Foligno before too long. |

I wouldn't be surprised if every phone call started with Myers and worked its way down... We already know that is where other teams have started such as Anaheim. |

Sabres89 threw his name out there
And there's others out there who feel this team needs a "sniper" or "superstar" forward |

Foligno isn't as skilled as Iginla, personally I wish we had another top 6 forward so there wasn't as much pressure on Foligno to score as their is now. He should be playing on the 3rd line if the Ennis line doesn't start clicking. Him and Ott would make a brutal 3rd line to play against |

If Mcnabb and Pysyk turn out to be studs, then the certainly can move Myers, I doubt they will though |

Why not really?
Darcy is in a position of strength at the moment with all the dmen he has in the stable.
We have to remember these 2 teams are expected to win the Cup every year when talking about Philly and Detroit.
We also have to remember Darcy got a 1st round pick for Gaustad. I trust Darcy in this scenario. |

If I am Darcy and looking at the UFA pool for next season... There will be guys that i will target immediately...
Guys like Getzlaf, Perry, Iginla, and Elias will be a long drawn out process i think..
I think to improve our team we need to look at the solid depth guys.. guys that can do multiple things without breaking out bank....
Guys like Mark Streit, Ryan Clowe, Brenden Morrow, Zach Bogosian, Mikkel Boedker, Jamie Langenbrunner, Drew Miller, Vaclav Prospal, and Kyle Wellwood.
They all could pay great dividends to this team without killing us on our cap hit that looks good going into 2013-2014 season. |

I don't see Foligno being a point-per-game player like Iginla though
He might be able to have as good a physical game as anyone,
But I don't know if I ever see him being that great of a scorer
20-30-50pts is where I think he tops out at
Which is fine by me,
I just don't think he'll ever be "Iginla" |

They said no on Myers for Bobby Ryan.... so they definitely hold him in very high regard and i don't blame them... I don't want to see Myers traded either with Regehr, Sulzer, and Leopold all UFAs after this season. |

Oh I am with ya on the point per game point. I dont think Marcus will ever be that guy.
Marcus can be productive enough though I feel to be quite the power foward.
But valid points. |

It'll be a couple years before we know that too
I can't see any way McNabb isn't up here next year
Pysyk has a chance depending on if we bring back any or all of our UFA defensemen (Leopold, Regehr, Sulzer)

Per NHL.com...
Avs' O'Reilly has been released from his KHL contract. He also reinjured his foot last night in a game.
Wow... Avalanche cannot buy a break this year. |

What type player would u like to see us bring in? - jdfitz77
A true #1 center who is good on faceoffs.... the biggest need for several years now. CoHo & Ennis are a nice #2a #2b pair. Of course, this all depends on how Grigo developes. But as of right now as the team stands, a true #1 faceoff winning center should be the ultimate goal to persue. |

my brother-in-law is a HUGE Avs fan.. so I don't mind them either... I love watching all of their old Detroit-Colorado games when that rivalry was still hot...
I was hoping that the winter classic this year would have been Detroit-Colorado at Michigan Stadium but Toronto was booked instead. Well it was cancelled any way so who knows what is going to happen now. |

Yup... I think i calculated out last year that if he would have stayed on the pace he was for a complete season he would of had about 185 hits which would have been top 3 in the NHL. |
